IN A NEW EPISODE OF THE ABB DECODED PODCAST, ABB'S CHIEF INTEGRITY OFFICER TALKS ABOUT ENSURING INTEGRITY THROUGH DIALOGUE AND TRANSPARENCY.
She explained how ABB is committed to fostering a culture that embeds integrity into the structure of all the company's activities, underpinned by ABB's Code of Conduct, values and processes, which are essential to running a sustainable, world-class business.
What does integrity mean at ABB?
"Integrity is the foundation of our operations, because a sustainable business is one rooted in integrity. It means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and always leading by example. ”
This foundation is established by ABB's Code of Conduct, which explains the expected behavior of each employee and stakeholder based on the principles of responsibility, respect and determination.
"At the end of the day, it's not a flash in the pan, it's a way of being. It's a way for us to do business. Our values and expectations of operating with integrity are the same all over the world, no matter where you live or work within our ABB family. ”
How integrity aligns with ABB values
In addition to its Code of Conduct, ABB's approach to integrity must be consistent with its values of courage, care, curiosity and collaboration. They shape everything the company does and help ABB lead by example in its business dealings and in environments beyond the workplace.
"Integrity is the foundation and integral part of our four values: the courage to speak up when we have any concerns about integrity; caring for one another and promoting a respectful, diverse and inclusive workforce; curiosity to drive cultural innovation and change; and collaboratively to do it together. This will ensure that we have the right attitudes and behaviors to build a sustainable business and ultimately make a positive impact on society. ”
How do we encourage and ensure integrity?
With the foundation and values in place, ABB must also have the structure and support to effectively implement this ongoing integrity drive.
"I think it just starts with transparency. This means that managers shape transparency and create inclusive environments through dialogue where everyone feels safe, empowered, and heard when they speak. Our top management and the entire ABB have a clear commitment to putting integrity first, because this topic, this mission, is simply not done. We must continue the dialogue, and we must support each other in this journey through transparency and accountability.
"At the end of the day, it's about how everyone in the ABB family behaves in a way that aligns with this expectation of integrity. Most importantly, we need to see asking questions as an opportunity for all of us to strengthen our culture and reduce the risk of any failure. ”
