ABB has released the latest ABB Ability™ Symphony® Plus distributed control system (DCS) to further support the digital transformation of the power generation and water industries.

ABB has released the latest ABB Ability™ Symphony® Plus distributed control system (DCS) to further support the digital transformation of the power generation and water industries. Leveraging more than 40 years of experience in factory automation, the latest version of Symphony® Plus will connect the edge and the cloud via a simple and secure OPC UA that will further support customers' digitalization journeys without interfering with core control and automation functions.
The new version of Symphony® Plus provides users with access to digital applications, such as the shop floor asset management solution based on the ABB Ability™ Genix asset performance management application. It also allows users to access process and alarm data through the ABB Mobile Operations app on mobile, keeping them in sync with on-site information for faster responses, reduced downtime and cost savings.
With web-based HTML5 applications and engineering tools, critical data can be viewed anytime, anywhere, fostering collaboration and improving plant uptime and performance. ABB's Field Information Manager (FIM) also enables flexible field device management, making configuration, commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance of fieldbus instruments faster and easier.

The new SD Series e-Class process controllers provide a low-risk, low-disruption retrofit solution for traditional Harmony Rack (HR) module installations. It enables HR systems to be faster, more capacitive, and more functional. It supports continuous innovation while enabling plant-level digitalization while minimizing the impact on process operations and system infrastructure.
