Hands-on lessons are supported by high-quality teaching equipment
After professional research, Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School introduced the first ABB industrial robot in 2012, and so far, it has a total of 29 sets of industrial robot teaching equipment designed and developed with ABB partners. Every year, ABB Robotics provides targeted technical training for teachers and provides professional teaching materials for schools, including textbooks, courseware, online courses and other teaching materials, so that students can lay a solid theoretical foundation in systematic learning.
In the practical operation area, the school mainly uses the IRB 120, IRB 1410 and IRB 360 ABB robots to carry out teaching tasks, mainly cultivating students' skills in industrial robot operation, on-site programming, offline programming, simulation application, disassembly and maintenance, and integrated application. Thanks to the durability and safety of ABB robots, students can confidently use the robots for hands-on exercises.
In the simulation area, teachers usually use RobotStudio to teach programming, while students are encouraged to use their imagination and write creative instructions from a professional perspective to maximize the performance of the robot.

The competition platform stimulates students' application potential
The annual ABB Cup Intelligent Technology Innovation Competition has a special robot group, which can not only help students majoring in robotics accept the learning results, but also motivate students to explore the innovative application scenarios and practical value of robots in production and life.
Last year, two students from Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School used RobotStudio to design a GoFa robot garbage sorting system and develop graphical instructions for this application in the ABB Cup Intelligent Technology Innovation Competition, and finally won the first prize in the skill group.
Role-based simulation guides students' future development
In the practical class, students will simulate the positions of industrial robot assistants, debugging personnel, production line maintenance personnel, project supervisors, etc., and adapt to the role transformation from students, to apprentices, and then to employees in advance. Many students have found their interests and clarified their future development direction through the study of professional courses.
After completing the three-year secondary vocational program, 70% of graduates choose to go on to higher education. After completing the higher vocational studies, most of the graduates will enter the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area industrial robot production, integration, application enterprise employment, with a solid robot professional level and the spirit of research and innovation, become the technical backbone of the enterprise, to help the company complete one important robot integration project after another.
An outstanding graduate of Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School once led a team to develop a robotic flexible polishing system for belt buckles, which was later used by manufacturers to serve the world-famous luxury brands Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Founded in 1958, Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School is the only public secondary vocational school directly under the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau focusing on intelligent manufacturing. In 2011, concerned that the country will vigorously develop the trend of the robot industry, Guangzhou Light Industry Vocational School opened a robot major, with an annual enrollment of about 300 people.
