ABB's Terra 360 offers a range of 100 km in three minutes1
The collaboration supports Shell's goal of installing 500,000 charging points globally by 2025 and 2,500,000 by 2030
Today, ABB E-mobility and Shell announced plans to launch the world's first Terra 360 network, the world's fastest all-in-one EV charger.
With more than 200 Terra 360 chargers to be launched in Germany over the next 12 months, ABB E-mobility and Shell will help ensure higher charger availability and charging speeds for more than 1.7 million EV drivers in Germany2.
István Kapitány, Executive Vice President, Shell Mobility, commented: "At Shell, we aim to be the leader in EV charging, providing customers with a convenient time and place to charge. For drivers on the go, especially long-distance drivers, charging speed is key, and every minute of waiting will have a big impact on their journey. For fleet owners, speed is important for the top-up charge that keeps the EV fleet moving during the day. That's why, through our partnership with ABB, we are pleased to offer our customers the fastest charging service, first in Germany and soon in other markets." ”
Frank Muehlon, CEO of ABB E-mobility, and István Kapitány, Global Executive Vice President, Shell Mobility.
Shell Recharge's national Terra 360 charger network, powered by 100% renewable electricity, will help meet the growing demand for EV charging infrastructure from consumers and fleets in Germany and further accelerate EV adoption nationwide in the future.
The Terra 360 comes in different configurations and can charge multiple vehicles at the same time. Its modular design ensures peak utilization of the charging station through dynamic power distribution. The new charger also has a maximum output of 360 kW and is capable of fully charging3 an electric vehicle in 15 minutes or less. 1
Frank Muehlon, CEO of ABB E-mobility, added: "As a global leader in EV charging infrastructure, we believe in the power of unity; When innovation and collaboration come together, we can collectively contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change and achieving a low-carbon society. ”
"With the transport sector alone accounting for around 29% of the world's total greenhouse gases, the importance of working together to drive change has never been more important, and we are delighted to partner with Shell on this milestone product."
ABB E-mobility recently signed a global framework agreement with Shell to service ABB's end-to-end portfolio of AC and DC charging stations. The portfolio ranges from AC wallboxes for home, work, or retail installations to Terra 360 for gas stations, city charging stations, retail parking lots, and fleet applications.
ABB sets the standard in transparency and data security and has become one of the first major charging suppliers to achieve compliance with the "Eichrecht" system for its Terra 53/54 and high-power DC chargers in Germany.
