A range of 100 km can be provided in less than three minutes
The only charger specifically designed to charge up to four cars at the same time
Ideal for gas stations, urban charging stations, retail parking lots, and fleet applications
ABB today unveiled an innovative all-in-one electric vehicle (EV) charger that delivers the fastest charging experience on the market.
ABB's new Terra 360 is a modular charger that can charge up to four cars simultaneously with dynamic power distribution. This means that drivers won't have to wait if someone else is already charging in front of them. They just pull into another plug. With a maximum output of 360 kW, the new charger is capable of fully charging any EV in 15 minutes or less, meeting the needs of a wide range of EV users, whether they need fast charging or charging their batteries while shopping at the grocery store.
"As governments around the world develop public policies that favor electric vehicles and charging networks to combat climate change, the demand for EV charging infrastructure, especially fast, convenient and easy-to-operate charging stations, is higher than ever," said Frank · Muhron, President of ABB's Electric Vehicle Division. "With charging options for every need, the Terra 360 is key to meeting this demand and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles worldwide."
Theodor Swedjemark, Chief Communications & Sustainability Officer at ABB, said: "This is an exciting day for ABB, which plays a key role in achieving a low-carbon society as a global leader in fast charging for electric vehicles. "With road transport accounting for nearly one-fifth of global CO2 emissions, electric vehicles are essential to meeting the Paris climate goals. We will also lead by example by replacing our entire fleet of more than 10,000 vehicles with emission-free vehicles. ”
Coming in Europe by the end of 2021 and in the United States, Latin America and Asia-Pacific in 2022, the Terra 360 has been designed with the daily needs and expectations of EV drivers in mind. Leveraging the extensive field experience gained from ABB E-mobility's vast installed base, Terra 360 offers speed and convenience as well as comfort, ease of use and familiarity.
In addition to meeting the needs of private EV drivers at gas stations, convenience stores, and retail outlets, the Terra 360 charger can be installed in an organization's commercial premises to charge EV fleet's cars, vans, and trucks.
Its innovative lighting system guides the user through the charging process and displays the EV battery's state of charge (SoC) and the time remaining until the end of the optimal charging session. The world's fastest EV charger is also wheelchair accessible and has an ergonomic cable management system that helps drivers plug in quickly with minimal effort.
In addition to meeting the needs of private EV drivers at gas stations, convenience stores, and retail outlets, the Terra 360 charger can be installed in an organization's commercial premises to charge EV fleet's cars, vans, and trucks. This gives car owners the flexibility to charge up to four cars overnight or fast charge their electric vehicles during the day. Because Terra 360 chargers have a small footprint, they can be installed in small warehouses or parking lots where space is limited.
The Terra 360 charger is fully customizable. To personalize the look, customers can "mark" the charger by using different foils or changing the color of the LED strips. There's also the option to include an integrated 27-inch advertising screen to play videos and pictures.
ABB is a global leader in electric vehicle infrastructure, providing a full range of charging and electrification solutions for electric vehicles, electric and hybrid buses, vans, trucks, ships and railways. ABB entered the EV market in 2010 and today sells more than 460,000 EV chargers in more than 88 markets; More than 21,000 DC fast chargers and 440,000 AC chargers, including those sold through Chargedot.
Through partnerships with international charging operators such as IONITY and Electrify America, ABB high-power chargers have been deployed globally.
