ABB E-Mobility recently unveiled its new home charging solution, Terra Home, at the prestigious technology event at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, United States.

Scheduled to launch this year, Terra Home brings consumers a new option for future home charging solutions. The product's innovative design allows users to take full advantage of renewable energy and further reduce their carbon footprint.

The global demand for charging stations is expected to reach 340 million to 490 million units by 2040, and this number will be dominated by home chargers, accounting for 82% of all EV charging installations [2].

To celebrate the launch of the new home charging solution, ABB E-Mobility conducted a survey of drivers in several countries around the world about their mobility priorities for 2023, and the results showed that enhancing the sustainability of mobility is one of their top concerns. Ninety percent of respondents believe they have an obligation to act more sustainably to protect the planet and protect future generations.

Eighty-six percent of respondents have made it clear that they will take action to reduce travel emissions in the new year. Switching from petrol to electric vehicles was cited by respondents as one of the greenest moves, along with reducing the use of private cars and using more public transport.

Leon van de Pas, Senior Vice President, E-Mobility Destination Charging, ABB, said: "At the start of our pivotal year towards a low-carbon society, the results of the survey clearly show that drivers are ready and willing to embark on a new journey with us. Terra Home offers users a new option that has never been more flexible and allows people to switch to electric vehicles in a simple and stylish way. ”

The Terra Home charging solution automatically prioritizes the use of renewable electricity, such as solar. This is attractive to many consumers, with 54% of respondents in the survey saying they would be more inclined to use an electric vehicle if they could ensure that the electricity used by them was renewable.

Not only does Terra Home set a new benchmark in the field of sustainable charging, but it also sets new trends in style and design. Terra Home's minimalist design, choice of materials and a variety of customisable housing options mean it seamlessly blends into a wide range of home styles and lifestyles.

At the same time, the product's intelligent charging function, such as the "plug and charge" function, can turn on the charging method of automatic recognition after the car is plugged into the charging cable, eliminating the cumbersome links such as mobile phone login. The product's interactive light function also displays the charging status in real time. In addition, Terra Home can be connected to the ABB E-mobility Charger Sync app[3], allowing users to easily get charging status notifications and charge identification verification to ensure that they are using Terra Home.

The cloud connection between Terra Home and ABB's E-mobility app further enhances security, allowing experienced teams to service charging stations remotely quickly and efficiently, while remote firmware updates allow users to always benefit from updated charging capabilities so that the product does not affect the user's charging experience in the future.
