ABB's Xiamen Demonstration Base is a project that is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 13,400 tons per year
• Adopt a new intelligent solution that supports new energy access to achieve clean energy substitution and cost savings for 50% of the park's electricity
• The ABB Xiamen Industrial Center "Carbon Neutral" Park Demonstration Base Project is a demonstration model for low-carbon transformation of enterprises
Recently, ABB Xiamen Industrial Center has taken a key step in high-quality development, becoming a "carbon neutral" park and a demonstration base for sustainable intelligent manufacturing, promoting China's green and low-carbon transformation. The project adopts an innovative energy control system, integrates the application of new energy power generation and energy storage systems, greatly reduces carbon emissions and improves energy efficiency, and draws a replicable and scalable low-carbon blueprint.
China aims to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. China currently accounts for more than 28% of the world's manufacturing industry1, and the low-carbon transition of China's manufacturing industry is critical to achieving carbon neutrality.
The 425,000-square-meter ABB Xiamen Industrial Center employs 3,000 people and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 13,400 tonnes per year through ABB's global Vision for Zero initiative. The project will provide a good example for customers and partners around the world to clearly demonstrate how ABB's smart digital technologies can turn the vision of decarbonization and emission reduction (indirect emissions from electricity consumption) into reality.
ABB Xiamen Industrial Center has advanced production lines for medium- and low-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, and has achieved 50% green power replacement by installing 100,000 square meters of rooftop PV. Through multi-strategy precise and flexible regulation technology, the local consumption of clean energy is maximized, and the energy use efficiency is improved through source-load-storage synergy. The smart energy solution is equipped with AI algorithms for power generation forecasting and load forecasting, which can predict power generation and consumption and deploy control strategies to achieve a balance between low-carbon electricity consumption and economy.
The project deploys the ABB Ability™ ZEE600 smart energy management platform to accurately regulate and control the "source-grid-load-storage" of the park. The platform is connected to energy facilities such as photovoltaics, energy storage, power distribution, HVAC, lighting, and charging piles to achieve optimized energy management for the entire park. Among them, the eStorage smart energy storage cabin solution, which covers power distribution and control equipment, can effectively balance photovoltaic fluctuations and improve the local consumption rate of photovoltaic through the control and management of the smart energy management system ZEE600. Among them, the DC microgrid provides an effective demonstration for the wide application of photovoltaic storage, direct and flexible technology.
The power system of ABB Xiamen Industrial Center is connected to the virtual power plant platform of State Grid Xiamen Power Supply Company, and the demand-side response of the energy management system is independently regulated, forming a "source-load interaction" to strongly support the construction of a new power system.
