Yaskawa Electric – inspection work before motor operation

(1) Check and remove the dust and debris on the motor;

(2) Check whether the voltage, frequency and power supply voltage and frequency on the nameplate of the motor are consistent with the actual situation, and whether the connection method is correct.

(3) Use an insulation resistance meter to measure the insulation resistance between phases and relative ground (shell) of the motor windings. For wound rotor asynchronous motors, in addition to checking the stator insulation, the insulation resistance between the rotor windings and the collector ring should also be checked. Those who do not meet the requirements should be dried.

(4) Rotate the shaft to see if there is rust or jamming, and require the shaft to rotate flexibly.

(5) Check whether the contact between the collector ring and the commutator of the winding rotor asynchronous motor or DC motor is smooth, whether the brush contact is good, and whether the brush pressure is appropriate (generally 15-25kPa).

(6) Check and tighten the fastening nuts and anchor bolts.

(7) Check whether the grease in the bearing is good and whether the amount is appropriate. Check that the transmission device (gears, transmission belts) is in good condition.

(8) Check whether the selection and setting of motor power supply leads and protection devices (automatic switches, isolation switches, fuses, thermal relays, etc.) are correct. Check whether the motor protection grounding (zeroing) device is reliable, as well as the grounding (zeroing) of the motor base and the power incoming steel pipe.

(9) Check the condition of ammeter, transformer, voltmeter and indicator light.

(10) When the motor is ready to start, all personnel present should be notified when the motor is ready to start. After starting, it should be idled for a period of time, and pay attention to check and observe its steering, speed, temperature rise, vibration, noise, sparks, and indicating instruments. If there is any abnormal phenomenon, it should be shut down and run after eliminating the fault.
