1. Hydraulic drive system

Because hydraulic technology is a relatively mature technology. It has the characteristics of large power, large force (or moment) to inertia ratio, fast response and high response, and easy to realize direct drive. It is suitable for applications in these robots with large load-bearing capacity, large inertia and working in solder-mask environments. However, the hydraulic system needs to carry out energy conversion (electric energy is converted into hydraulic energy), and the speed control adopts throttling speed regulation in most cases, and the efficiency is lower than that of the electric drive system. The liquid sludge discharge of the hydraulic system will pollute the environment and the working noise will be high. Due to these weaknesses, in recent years, robots with loads of less than 100 kz have often been replaced by electric systems.

2. Pneumatic drive system

It has the characteristics of fast speed, simple system structure, convenient maintenance and low price. It is suitable for robots with medium and small loads. However, due to the difficulty of realizing servo control, it is mostly used in robots for program control, such as in loading, unloading and stamping robots.

3. Electric drive system

Due to the low inertia, the wide use of high-torque AC and DC servo motors and their supporting servo drives (AC inverter, DC pulse width modulator), this kind of drive system is widely used in robots. These systems do not require energy conversion, are easy to use and flexible to control. Most motors require a sophisticated transmission mechanism behind them. DC brushed motors cannot be used directly in environments where explosion-proof requirements are required, and the cost is higher than that of the above two drive systems. However, due to the outstanding advantages of this type of drive system, it is widely used in robots.
