ABB has joined motorsport and car specialist Sauber Engineering AG (a Sauber Group company) as an official Global Skills Partner. The partnership will focus on the use of electric cars and carbon neutrality in projects.
As part of the partnership, ABB will install a state-of-the-art electric car charging station at its headquarters in Souber, Hinwil, Switzerland, to provide the company's growing number of electric car users with the latest fast-charging battery technology. The charging station will be powered by a photovoltaic field already installed in the parking lot of the headquarters in Sauber, now one of the largest in Switzerland.
Sauber Group has a long-standing skill link with ABB, whose inverter controls the speed of the fan, and Sauber Aerodynamik's wind tunnel – the state-of-the-art wind tunnel for the development of all Formula 1 sedan TM Sauber cars. Further skill collaboration with Sauber Group's modern production facilities is envisioning the use of a range of ABB skills.
Both companies will use new synergistic partnerships to drive their sustainability goals – ABB's Mission Zero initiative and Sauber Group to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency in all areas of their operations.
Robert Itschner, Managing Director of ABB Switzerland, said: "This is a very exciting collaboration partnership that gives two iconic Switzerland brands the opportunity to collaborate and share their world-class skills for a zero-emission future. ”
Frédéric Vasseur, CEO of Sauber Engineering: "The collaboration with ABB is a true statement of intent at Sauber Engineering. We are proud of our commitment to innovation and sustainability, and our collaboration with ABB will leverage skills and human ingenuity to exemplify these two important aspects. ”
Christoph Hansen, Director of Engineering Skills and Innovation at Sauber: "Sauber Engineering is at the forefront of innovation and research, not only in the field of car development, but also in a wide range of areas. The deal with skills market giant ABB will provide both companies with a collaborative partner that can strengthen their capabilities. The construction of EV charging stations is just the first step in this connection, and I'm really looking forward to exploring ways we can work together even further." ”
ABB's Mission Zero strategy for electrification is a blueprint for a sustainable future for industry, homes and cities. Through projects such as ABB's zero-emission and energy-self-sufficient factory in Luedenscheid, Germany, ABB is showcasing a range of skills that can help create a greener, emission-free future for all. Nearly 60% of ABB's global revenue is already generated from skills that help address the causes of climate change.
