For the fifth time in a decade, Clarivate Analytics Global Innovation 100 has named ABB a top global innovation leader.

ABB was named one of the World's Most Innovative Companies in 2021 by Clarivate Analytics, a global leader in analytics, including scientific and academic research, patent intelligence, and compliance standards.

Since 2012, Clarivate Analytics' list has identified global innovators and notable companies and research institutions at the top of the innovation ecosystem. Clarivate Analytics uses the same methodology each year to analyze the patented ideas of more than 14,000 entities to understand their level of investment, impact, and quality. 2021 marks ABB's fifth IPO.

In 2020, ABB increased its R&D and digital spending to 4.8% of the group's revenue, equivalent to approximately $1.3 billion. The company employs around 7,000 researchers worldwide, more than 60% of whom are focused on software development and digitalization.

The company continues to work with more than 100 leading universities around the world. ABB collaborates with Carnegie Mellon University and Stanford University in United States, University of British Colombia in Canada, Imperial College London in United Kingdom, Institute of Technology in India, Tsinghua University in China, Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and ETH Zurich in Switzerland.
