High reliability and strong anti-interference ability are one of the most important features of PLC. The PLC has such a high reliability due to the use of a series of hardware and software anti-interference measures:
1) Hardware: The I/O channel adopts photoelectric isolation, which effectively suppresses the influence of external interference sources on the PLC; Various forms of filtering are used for power supply and lines, so as to eliminate or suppress high-frequency interference; Use good conductive and magnetic materials to shield important components such as CPUs to reduce space electromagnetic interference; Some modules are equipped with interlock protection, self-diagnosis circuits, etc.
2) Software: PLC adopts scanning mode, which reduces the failure caused by external environmental interference; There are fault detection and self-diagnosis programs in the PLC system program, which can detect and judge the faults of the system hardware circuits; When the fault is caused by external interference, the current important information can be sealed immediately, and any unstable read and write operations are prohibited, and once the external environment is normal, it can be restored to the state before the fault occurs and continue the original work.
2. Simple programming and easy to use.
At present, most of the programming languages used by PLCs are ladder diagram language, which is a production-oriented and user-oriented programming language. The ladder diagram is similar to the electrical control circuit diagram, which is vivid and intuitive, and does not require computer knowledge, which is easy for the majority of engineering and technical personnel to master. When the production process needs to be changed, the program can be changed on the spot, which is convenient and flexible to use. At the same time, the operation and use of the PLC programmer is also very simple. This is also one of the main reasons why PLC has gained popularity and promotion.

3. Perfect function and strong versatility
Modern PLC not only has the functions of logic operation, timing, counting, sequence control, etc., but also has many functions such as A/D and D/A conversion, numerical operation, data processing, PID control, communication networking, etc. At the same time, due to the serialization and modularization of PLC products, a complete variety of hardware devices are available for users to choose, which can form a control system that meets various requirements.
4. Simple design and installation, easy maintenance
Because the PLC replaces the hardware of the traditional electrical control system with software, the design, installation and wiring of the control cabinet are greatly reduced. Most of the PLC's user programs can be simulated and debugged in the laboratory, which shortens the application design and commissioning cycle. In terms of maintenance, due to the extremely low failure rate of PLC, the maintenance workload is very small; Moreover, the PLC has a strong self-diagnosis function, if there is a fault, it can quickly find out the cause according to the fault information indicated on the PLC or prompted by the programmer, and the maintenance is very convenient.
5. Small size, light weight and low energy consumption
Because the PLC adopts integrated circuits, its compact structure, small size and low energy consumption make it an ideal control equipment to realize mechatronics.
