ABB will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai as an official partner of the Sweden Pavilion and will work with more than 100 companies and organizations to showcase its cutting-edge technologies in a digital and interactive way. ABB has a history of more than 130 years, and Sweden is one of the birthplaces of the company, and ABB will work with the country to showcase the most innovative treatment plans that contribute to the creation of a smart society under the theme of "Co-Innovation" in the pavilion. The exhibition is the first-ever World Expo to be held in the Middle East. As a meeting point for businesses and governments, Expo 2020 will take place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.
As part of the Dubai show, ABB will highlight how ABB's purpose-built robots are used to turn plastic waste into furniture, and how smart digital processing programs can be used to improve the sustainability and productivity of mining operations. Other projects include the ABB treatment program, helping to transform Sweden's fifth-largest city, Västerås, into one of the smartest cities in the country, building one of the world's tallest wooden buildings, serving as a showcase for state-of-the-art power technology and research projects to develop new materials for a smarter, more sustainable future.
ABB CEO Björ·n Rosengren will also participate in a high-level seminar on the theme "Switzerland and Sweden – Partners in Technology and Sustainable Development" to showcase the 100-year official ties between the two countries. The event will be joined by representatives from Switzerland and Sweden to discuss how the profession can contribute to the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Innosuisse and Vinnova in the fields of general knowledge and learning, science and sustainable innovation.
