Dr. Gu Chunyuan attended the Council and Policy Symposium to discuss the road to modernization of the automotive industry
A full range of EV charging solutions such as innovative high-power overcharging systems were exhibited at the scene
Deeply cultivate electric transportation, promote the application of digital and intelligent technologies, and create a green travel future
From March 31 to April 2, ABB participated in the 2023 China Electric Vehicle 100 Forum held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. As a member of the International Expert Committee of the Committee of 100, Dr. Gu Chunyuan, Chairman of ABB China, was invited to attend important meetings such as the Council of 100 and the Closed-door Seminar on the Development Situation and Policy of China's Automotive Industry. In the on-site observation area, ABB showcased its innovative high-power liquid-cooled supercharging system and a series of electric vehicle charging solutions for a variety of scenarios.
The 100-person Forum is the "wind vane" of China's new energy vehicle industry. Under the new situation of accelerating the electrification and intelligence of the automobile industry, this year's 100-person forum with the theme of "Promoting the Modernization of China's Automobile Industry", well-known experts, scholars and senior representatives from domestic and foreign government departments, international organizations, automobiles, energy, transportation, cities, communications and other fields discussed topics such as the development situation of the global automobile industry, the high-quality development path of new energy vehicles, and the development strategy of intelligent networked vehicles.
Dr. Gu Chunyuan said: "Electrification, energy efficiency and renewable energy are the key paths to green transformation and carbon neutrality, and the transportation sector is an important driver to accelerate this process. China's new energy vehicle industry has entered a new stage of large-scale and rapid development, and ABB is willing to work more closely with all sectors to accelerate technological breakthroughs, continuously improve supporting facilities, support collaborative innovation in the industrial chain, and inject more majestic power into the high-quality and sustainable development of the electric transportation industry. ”
China is the largest country in the production and sales of new energy vehicles, ranking first in the world in terms of production and sales for 8 consecutive years1. With the rapid growth of new energy vehicles, China has built the world's largest and most widely distributed charging infrastructure network2. In recent years, ABB has also increased its investment and R&D efforts in this field in China. In 2022, ABB increased its stake in Shanghai Lianzhu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.; In the same year, a new e-mobility China headquarters was established in Shenzhen, and a 480kW high-power liquid-cooled supercharging system was successfully launched in China. This system was also exhibited at the annual meeting, which can be charged for 5 minutes and has a battery life of 200 kilometers, which is suitable for busy sites such as high-speed service areas, gas stations, and transportation hubs, making charging as convenient and fast as refueling.
Yang Cao, Head of ABB E-Mobility China, said: "ABB E-Mobility is committed to accelerating the development of the new energy industry and working with partners to create the operating concept of 'charging as a service'. The China Electric Vehicle 100 Forum provides a good opportunity for us to expand cooperation. We will continue to increase innovation and localized R&D investment to create a smarter, more efficient, more convenient and faster charging experience for users. ”
Globally, ABB has delivered more than 1 million charging piles in 85 countries and regions, including China, since entering the EV charging market in 2010, the vast majority of which are manufactured by ABB's China base. ABB has also participated in the formulation of a number of mainstream charging standards around the world, promoting the effective coverage of high-power charging networks in key scenarios, and supporting the construction of a comprehensive low-carbon green transportation ecosystem.
The rapid development of electric vehicles has also brought new changes to the automobile manufacturing industry, promoting the transformation of the traditional linear production mode to a modular flexible production line. ABB is committed to promoting flexible manufacturing, modular production and intelligent manufacturing, and pays great attention to artificial intelligence learning technology for intelligent robots. The recently opened ABB Robotics Gigafactory in Shanghai, which integrates production and R&D, will provide stronger support for powertrain, body-in-white, battery assembly, body painting and sealing along the EV production chain, further meeting the surging market demand.
In recent years, ABB has made new progress in the fields of hydrogen energy, energy storage, intelligent power distribution, electric construction machinery, electric heavy trucks, electric ships, and rail transit. In the future, ABB will continue to promote the development and utilization of digital and intelligent technologies, work with partners to support energy transformation and industrial upgrading, and jointly promote the high-quality and sustainable development of the electric transportation industry.
