Q: 250KW ATV61 with 250KW fan, when decelerating to low speed, OPF (motor missing three-phase) problem will be reported occasionally. There are no contactors or switches between the inverter and the motor.

Answer: This situation seems to be a problem with the inverter, which is a false alarm. Not really! The fan is fundamentally braking in the process of deceleration, and the motor is in the generator operation condition, but in fact, due to the influence of the air flow in the pipeline, when decelerating to low speed, sometimes the motor will operate. In the process of transitioning conditions, the analogy is equivalent to the conversion of positive current to negative current, and there will be a zero-crossing process. Because at low speed, the positive and negative currents are not large, so the moment when it may be close to zero will occasionally be slightly longer, which is because the inverter detects a small current, thinking that the load is lost, so it reports the lack of phase.

Q: How small is the current that will report a phase loss?

Answer: Approximately 1/60 of the rated current or less will be reported.

Q: Even if the active current is very small no matter how the load changes, the excitation current will always be there, right? And according to the results of parameter setting or self-tuning, there are hundreds of amps. Will this current still be reported?

Answer: The excitation current in the parameters of Schneider inverter is the rated excitation current, if the inverter adopts magnetic flux vector control or linear voltage-frequency ratio control, the excitation current is so large. However, in fact, because the square pressure-to-frequency ratio control of the fan is set, the excitation current and magnetic flux are also very small at very low speeds. In this case, the OPF problem will occur. Of course, this situation is relatively accidental.

Q: How do I deal with the next question?

A: Either block this issue! In the fault management menu, set "Output Phase Loss" to no maintenance. The horizontal and vertical real phase loss is not very likely to occur, and even if it does, it can be maintained by other methods.

Q: Is there a better way to deal with it? Can you add a delay judgment?

Answer: Actually, there are three options in "Output Phase Loss", one is Yes (maintenance), one is No (no maintenance), and the other is contactor control. The third option means "no maintenance for now", leaving a delay time, which is the following parameter (0.5 to 10 seconds). After the phase loss occurs, it is considered to be phase loss after this moment, and this situation can be avoided.

Conclusion: Many abnormal phenomena are easy to be regarded as the fault of Schneider inverter, such as overcurrent, thermal overload, output to ground or short circuit, output phase loss, but careful analysis, are particularly reasonable, can find a way to deal with.
