Advantages: accurate speed control, torque speed characteristics are very hard, simple control principle, easy to use, cheap price.

Disadvantages: brush commutation, speed limit, additional resistance, occurrence of wear particles (not suitable for dust-free and explosive environments).

The basic structure of DC servo motor is similar to that of general DC motor. The DC servo motor has excellent linear conditioning characteristics and fast time response.

Advantages and disadvantages of AC servo motors

Advantages: Outstanding speed control characteristics, smooth control can be completed in the entire speed zone, no vibration, high efficiency of more than 90%, less heating, high-speed control, high accuracy azimuth control (depending on the accuracy of the encoder), in the additional operating area, constant torque, low inertia, low noise, no brush wear, no protection (suitable for dust-free, explosive environments).

Disadvantages: The control is messy, the driver parameters need to be adjusted on site to determine the PID parameters, and more wiring is required.
