The new career-first IRB 1300 robot, robotic pharmacy automation system, and the industry-first PixelPaint solution for cars will help advance agility in a rapidly changing business environment
At CIIF 2020, ABB will unveil a new range of digital and robotic automation products, solutions and services to help customers become more agile and address key trends that are fundamentally changing the face of the manufacturing industry.
"Automation has never been more important, and we're pushing the boundaries of skills to energize and transform a wide range of careers with more than a dozen robotics products and solutions, all designed to help our customers adapt to the rapidly changing business landscape," said Sami Atiya, President, Robotics & Discrete Automation, ABB. "The IRB 1300, which has been planned and produced in China, is the latest addition to our robotics portfolio and a great example of how we can innovate to help our customers move to agile manufacturing."
ABB's new IRB 1300 robot delivers class-leading advancements, scale and path accuracy in a faster, more compact package. Designed to improve productivity and line agility, the IRB 1300 will help customers meet the demand for a faster, more compact robot that can quickly advance heavy loads or loads with complex shapes or irregular shapes. With a 60% lighter weight, 83% smaller footprint and 27% shorter cycle times*, this six-axis industrial robot scales and advances to meet the needs of high-load applications in the electronics, general industry, food and beverage, logistics, and first-class car sectors.
"Today, our country is a global driving force in the field of robotics and automation. The promotion of China's new economic development model and new infrastructure has enabled us to explore new opportunities in the fields of new energy cars, 5G and consumer electronics, logistics, food and beverage, medicine, education and medical applications. The potential is huge. Gu Chunyuan, chairman of ABB China, said. At this year's CIIF, we had the pleasure of showcasing our vision for the hospital of the future and the factory of the future, and how we will take a more agile approach to building the vehicles of the future. ”
Hospital of the Future: ABB presented its vision for the hospital of the future, showcasing a robotic pharmacy automation system for hospitals and a collaboration unit for medical laboratories, where the two-arm YuMi® cobot can work with laboratory staff on pipetting, liquid handling, mixing and microbial culture tasks at scale.
ABB's Agile Robotic Pharmacy Automation System, developed in collaboration with Shanghai Seventh People's Hospital, is an inpatient pharmacy robot intralogistics solution based on ABB's MiniLoad robot and 3D sorting solution.
Robot Pharmacy is highly modular and scalable to meet the needs of the plant environment, capable of handling the workload of up to two pharmacists. The MiniLoad robotic system uses the IRB 2600 for drug storage and retrieval, while the IRB 1200 with its 3D vision and AI skills sorts and dispenses drugs based on prescriptions. The system is also fully compatible with ABB's Ability™ digital channel, which assists customers in handling pharmacies, and is equipped with a dedicated drug storage and management system to ensure 100% traceability of medicines.
ABB's PixelPaint inkjet technology improves car painting speed by 50% by eliminating overspray.
The car of the future: ABB will showcase a number of smart products and skills for the car industry, including car electronics assembly, quality inspection and its innovative new PixelPaint solution. This uses inkjet to eliminate overspray, enabling two-color paint and personalized planning to be used all at once, eliminating the need for masking and unmasking, making custom painting 50% faster and more sustainable.
Factory of the Future: ABB launches digital solutions designed to improve performance and accelerate digital transformation in traditional occupations. Visitors to the ABB Digital Experience Center will be able to explore how ABB Ability™ enables customers to securely integrate their data, combine it with broader career data, leverage big data and predictive profiling, and generate insights that help them improve their performance and productivity.
With ABB's investment in the Shanghai VisionNav Robotics Factory, the next phase of ABB's business in China has begun. Combined with state-of-the-art production, self-learning machines, and digital collaboration solutions, the factory will push the boundaries of automation and take flexible production to the next level. The production and research facility will be the world's most advanced, automated and agile robotic factory, and the program will open in 2021.
