Historically, there are many types of industrial robots, for example, Cartesian coordinate system robots, cylindrical coordinate system robots, etc., with the passage of time, the development of skills, now on the market, the types of industrial robot products launched by major manufacturers are mainly articulated robots (straight articulated robots), parallel robots, and SCARA robots.
Articulated robots, the most mainstream type of industrial robots today, generally have six joint axes, each of which is composed of degrees of freedom of reversal and rotation. It mimics the structure of the human arm: from the bottom to the top, the lower arm is formed by 1-2 axes, and the upper arm is formed by 3-6 axes. At present, the vast majority of industrial robot products launched by major manufacturers on the market are of this type, and they are widely used because of the large operating range and sensitive action of articulated robots.
Parallel robots, mainly used for material transfer, generally have three, four, six joint axes, with simple structure, fast speed, high positioning accuracy, small area of occupation characteristics. Cooperative machine vision, conveyor line tracking, and the use of parallel robots can create a very flexible material transfer production line.
SCARA robots, primarily used for material transfer and assembly, generally have four joint axes, consisting of three rotary axes and one joint axis that moves up and down. It has the characteristics of sensitive action, simple structure, fast speed and high positioning accuracy.
