This function can be used to install KSS updates, e.g. from KSS 8.3.0 to KSS 8.3.1. After installing or updating the KUKA system software, the robot control system always performs an initial cold start. We advocate archiving all relevant data prior to software updates. If necessary, I can restore the ancient condition. In addition, it is also advocated that the new condition should be saved after the update.

Do not use this function to install new variety, e.g. from KSS 8.2 to KSS 8.3. The same does not use this utility device for new types, e.g. from KSS 8.3 to KSS 8.3 SR. In order to install a new variety or type, it is necessary to consult KUKA Deutschland GmbH. This utility device may not be used to assist in software update packages, such as operating software packages.

There are 2 ways to install KSS updates:

1. Update the USB flash drive

A USB flash drive with no engine function must be used.

It is advisable to use a KUKA USB flash drive with no engine function. If you use a USB stick from another manufacturer, the data may be lost.

Method of operation T1 or T2

No program was selected.

A USB flash drive with the software to be installed

The ZIP file must have been extracted.

No other files are allowed in a directory with a single file.

Procedure

1. Plug in the USB flash drive.

2. In the main menu, select Put into Operation> Software Update > Automatic.

3. A security inquiry arises and is it OK to update. Press is an acknowledgement.

The following message is displayed in the message window: Software update ready, start your computer from the beginning!

4. In the main menu, select Shut down, then pick the option Start the control system PC from scratch. (No, you don't.)

5. Click to acknowledge the security inquiry. The robot controller is started from scratch and updated.

Then, the robot controller restarts again.

6. When the robot controller finishes the second reboot, it can pull out the USB flash drive.

It is now possible to use the updated system software.

2. Network updates

When updating from the network, the device data is copied to the local drive D:\. Suppose there is already a system soft on D:\

Prepare the network path from which the device is updated:

1. Select the > Companion Software from the main menu.

2. Press New Software.

3. Press Equipment.

4. Select the device path for the field to go through the network update KRC. Select by pressing the path.

5. Select the desired network route (= file Setup.exe directory of the location). Press Save.

6. The selected route will be displayed in the device route where the field has been updated via the network to update the KRC. Click Save again.

7. Close the window

Procedure

1. From the main menu, select Debug > Software Update > Network.
