1. Use the switching signal of PLC to control the inverter

The output point and COM point of the PLC (MR type or MT type) are directly connected to the STF (forward engine), RH (high speed), RM (medium speed), RL (low speed), and SG input ports of the inverter. The PLC can control the start, stop and reset of the inverter through the program; It can also control different combinations of high-speed, medium-speed and low-speed terminals of the inverter to complete multi-stage speed operation. Defects: Because it uses switching quantities to carry out control, its speed regulation curve is not a continuous smooth curve, and it cannot complete fine speed adjustment.

2. Use PLC and module output analog signal to control the inverter

Mitsubishi Fx1N and FX2N PLC mainframes, equipped with L-channel simple FX1N-1DA-BD extended analog output board; or analog input-output hybrid module FX0N-3A; or Fx2N-2DA with two outputs; or the four-way output FX2N-4DA module to control the speed control of the inverter. This control method, PLC programming is simple and convenient, the speed regulation curve is smooth and continuous, and the work is stable. It is more commonly used in industrial control.

Defects: In the large-scale production line, the control cable is long, especially when the DA module selects the voltage signal output, the line has a large voltage drop, which affects the stability and reliability of the system. During use, it should be noted that the communication cable should not be too long.

3. The PLC uses RS-485 communication method to control the inverter

The application of using PLC and RS-485 communication to control the inverter is a more extensive method, and the PLC selects RS serial communication instruction programming. This control method has simple hardware and the lowest cost, and its anti-interference ability is strong, the transmission rate is high, the transmission distance is long and the cost is low. It can operate 32 frequency converters.

Defects: S-485 communication to solve a series of technical problems such as data encoding, checksum, framing, sending data, receiving data parity, timeout processing and error retransmission, a simple inverter operation instruction, sometimes to write dozens of PLC ladder instructions to complete, programming workload is large and cumbersome.

Installing an RS-485 communication board or attaching an RS-485 communication module on the PLC host can solve the problem of large amount of programming.

4. The PLC uses RS-485 Modbus-RTU communication method to control the inverter

Mitsubishi's new F700 series inverters use RS-485 terminals to communicate with PLCs using the Modbus-RTU protocol. PLC programming for the Modbus communication method is simpler and more convenient than the RS-485 protocol-free method. Defects: PLC programming workload is still large.

5. The PLC uses the fieldbus method to control the inverter

Mitsubishi drives can be built with various types of communication options, such as the FR-A5NC option for CC-Link fieldbuses; FR-A5AP(A) option for ProfibusDP fieldbus; FR-A5ND option for DeviceNet fieldbus and more. Mitsubishi FX series PLC has a corresponding communication interface module to connect with it. This control method has fast control speed, long distance, high efficiency, stable operation, simple programming, and a large number of inverters that can be connected.

Defects: High cost.

6. Select the extended memory to control the inverter

Install an RS-485 communication board or attach an RS-485 communication module on the PLC host; Embed a "function expansion storage box" under the panel of the PLC, write a few abbreviated PLC ladder instructions, you can complete the reading, writing, supervision and control of various operations of 8 inverter parameters, and the communication distance can reach 50m or 500m. It's easy to use and easy to grasp.

Defect: Can only be used in control systems with no more than 8 inverters.
