Mitsubishi L series PLC is the same as Q series PLC is a modular PLC, in the specific engineering application, users according to the actual needs of the CPU, power supply, input and output and other special function modules for combination. However, there is a difference between the L series PLC and the Q series PLC in terms of hardware composition, that is, the L series PLC does not need a substrate, and the power supply, CPU, input and output and other modules are connected and fixed through the interface next to the CPU.
There are two considerations when connecting modules in this way:
1. A layer of modules, in addition to the power supply, CPU module, the total number of modules that can be connected is 10, if the number is exceeded, the need to use expansion and branch modules to expand the connection.
2. After the combination of each module, the terminal cover plate should be placed on the right side of the end module, otherwise the entire PLC system will make mistakes.
The model of the terminal cover is: L6EC-CM, L SERIES CPU comes with its own cover when leaving the factory, the user should remove the cover plate that comes with the CPU when using the device, and after combining the other modules, add the terminal cover on the right side of the next module.
If the terminal cover is lost or damaged, the user needs to replace it with a normal cover in order to work properly. Because this cover is supplied by the CPU, Mitsubishi did not supply this cover L6EC-CM to order it alone, so the user needs to deal with this problem, and there are several solutions to deal with it.
Purchase a terminal cover with ERR terminals, model L6EC-ET-CM, which has multiple fault output functions than the L6EC-CM cover that comes with the CPU, and has a signal output when the CPU is in a fault state. However, the cover with faulty output is a bit more expensive.
When there are 10 modules left in the first floor of the L series, it is necessary to add branches and expansion modules, wherein the L6EXE-CM expansion module comes with a terminal cover plate for the terminal installed in the next layer of modules, and the price of the expansion module L6EXE-CM is cheaper than that of L6EC-ET-CM. Therefore, users can also purchase this expansion module and use the terminal cover that comes with this module, so that the cost is lower.
