(1) It is necessary to choose a four-pole switch:

For the sake of repair safety: in the TT grounding system, the total equipotential bonding is done on the user side, but because the total equipotential bonding at this moment does not include the neutral wire, the potential of the line fault (for example: a phase wire grounding) on the grounding electrode on the power supply side will be conducted to the user side, and then lead to the electric shock accident of electrical repair when using the three-pole switch. At this moment, a four-pole switch is required to block the neutral and phase wires;

In order to prevent stray current and normal use of RCD function: under the condition that the neutral wire has a parallel circuit, it is also necessary to select a four-pole switch in order to prevent stray current and make the RCD on the dual power transfer switch work normally;

When the IT system leads out of the neutral wire, for the sake of repair safety: the IT system generally does not lead out the neutral wire, and there is no problem of choosing a four-pole switch. If the neutral wire is drawn, when a phase grounding problem occurs, the voltage of the neutral wire to the ground will be 220V, and the risk of electric shock is very great, so it is necessary to install a four-pole switch for electrical repair safety.

(2) Situations where a four-pole switch is not required:

There is no need to install a four-pole switch for electrical repair in the TN-C-S and TN-S systems;

If there is equipotential bonding, no four-pole switch is required to be installed for electrical repair, regardless of TN-C-S, TN-S, TT system, if there is equipotential bonding;

The SPD of 4P has a fast response time and low residual pressure.

"3P+N" completes the differential mode protection, the insulation resistance to the ground is large, the leakage current is small, and the surge protector is still safe when the power supply system is faulty.

For TN-C system, 3P can be used; For TN-S system, 4P/3P+N can be selected; Regarding the TT system, it is advisable to choose 3P+N.
