Belt tension adjustment method and precautions - OTC robot

The OTC robot needs to adjust the tension of the belt once a year or every 3,000 hours of work, whichever is shorter. The OTC robot B4 (B4L) is used as an example to introduce the adjustment method and precautions.

The timing belt of the OTC robot B4\B4L is located between the motor and the reduction gear, and is used to drive the J5 axis. The timing belt must be loaded with the proper tension to achieve the requirements for smooth conveyance.

Follow the instructions below to appropriately adjust the timing belt tension of each axis of the OTC robot B4\B4L.

When making adjustments, be careful not to idle the pulleys of the OTC robot B4\B4L, as the origin may be shifted and the demand will be adjusted from scratch.

Let's follow the steps below:

(1) After removing the upper arm cover of the OTC robot B4\B4L, you can see the exposed timing belt

(2) Loosen the three bolts (M5x10) that fix the motor, and the motor frame rotates around the cylindrical pin

Regarding the adjustment method of the tension of the OTC robot B4\B4L, the J5 axis timing belt of the OTC robot B4\B4L is continuously adjusted until the deflection of the OTC robot B4\B4L is reached.

(3) When the regular deflection value is reached, lock the motor fixing bolts from the beginning with a tightening torque of 7.3N∙m, and then apply LOCKTITE anti-loosening agent on these bolts to prevent the bolts from loosening.

※Pay attention to the direction of the device of the OTC robot B4\B4L timing belt. The belt on the inside of the pulley at the motor end is located on the underside of the pulley at the front end of the upper arm, and the belt on the outside of the pulley at the motor end is located on the upper side of the pulley at the front end of the upper arm.

(4) After successfully completing all the adjustments of the OTC robot B4\B4L, apply an appropriate amount of sealant around the entire circumference of the outer surface of the cover device, and then install the upper arm cover from scratch.

When adjusting the tension of the timing belt of the OTC robot B4\B4L, we must pay attention to the following three points:

1. Do not be caught by movable parts.

2. Improper adjustment of belt tension may cause damage to the belt

3. Belt damage may cause the robotic arm to fall
