Sick sensors – the wiring method for proximity sensors

1. There is a difference between two-wire system and three-wire system for proximity sensors, and three-wire proximity sensors are divided into NPN type and PNP type, and their wiring is different.

2. The wiring of the two-wire proximity sensor is relatively simple, and the proximity sensor and the load can be connected to the power supply after being connected in series.

3. Wiring of the three-wire proximity sensor: the red wire is connected to the positive end of the power supply; The blue wire is connected to the 0V end of the power supply; The yellow line is the signal, which should be loaded. The other end of the load is connected like this: for the NPN proximity sensor, it should be connected to the positive end of the power supply; In the case of PNP type proximity sensors, they should be connected to the 0V side of the power supply.

4. The load of the proximity sensor can be a signal lamp, a relay coil or a digital input module of a programmable controller PLC.

5. Special attention needs to be paid to the type selection of the three-wire proximity sensor connected to the PLC digital input module. PLC digital input module can generally be divided into two categories: one type of public input terminal is the power supply 0V, and the current flows out from the input module, at this time, the NPN proximity sensor must be selected; The other type of common input terminal is the positive end of the power supply, and the current flows into the input module, that is, the well input, at this time, the PNP proximity sensor must be selected. Don't make the wrong choice.

6. The two-wire proximity sensor is limited by the working conditions, and the switch itself produces a certain voltage drop when it is turned on, and there is a certain residual current flowing through it when it is cut-off, which should be considered when selecting. Although the three-wire proximity sensor has an extra wire, it is not bothered by unfavorable factors such as residual current, and the operation is more reliable.

7. Some manufacturers will draw out the "normally open" and "normally closed" signals of the proximity sensor at the same time, or add other functions, in this case, please wire the 220V proximity sensor wiring according to the product manual: the two-wire proximity sensor is rated voltage to reduce your control voltage, that is to say, for example, if your proximity sensor is 220 volts, then the suction coil of the relay you control must be 220 volts, and the control power supply voltage must also be 220 volts. Then it is enough to use the proximity sensor and relay coil in series.
