KUKA's Edition robot assists new customers in price-sensitive shopping malls in the useful automation of welding tasks. Focus on the main points, have a higher cost-to-benefit ratio, and can obtain the skill set at that time. Initially, the KR CYBERTECH nano ARC will be available in two versions of the Edition robot, with more variants to follow.

The KUKA Edition robot makes it easy to get started with automated arc welding

The KUKA Edition robot relied on the skill set of the time, including the recently revised KR CYBERTECH nano series and the latest generation of controllers, the KR C5. Others include suitable welding software, such as KUKA. ArcTech Basic。 "We're not shrinking the norm, we're concentrating on tweaking it." Markus Hollfelder-Asam, Product Portfolio Manager at KUKA, explains. "With the Edition Robot, we have provided a robot that is technically reliable – lean, focused on the essentials, but ultimately still the original KUKA." This is an advantage especially for customers in highly dynamic and price-sensitive shopping malls who are in the early stages of automation: the adaptive planning of the Edition robot significantly reduces the cost of ownership.

The KR CYBERTECH nano ARC HW Edition robot has a useful load plan of 6 kg and can be mounted on the ground and on the ceiling. Because entry-level malls also have different requirements, the Edition robot is available in two variants: an effect range of up to 1440 mm (from January 2022) and 2010 mm (to be available by the end of 2022). In contrast to the standard version of the 50 mm hollow shaft wrist with a single side support, the Edition robot offers a hollow shaft wrist with a double support with a diameter of 46 mm and a repeatability of 0.06 mm. "This happens to be the right thing about the entry-level use of arc welding." Markus Hollfelder-Asam confirms.

"It is important to us to supply KUKA with the high quality that it has always had. This means: the hollow shaft wrist supports the precise positioning of the welding process and avoids additional agitation generalizations. In addition, as is common in the KR CYBERTECH nano series, the Edition robot is supplied with a maintenance-free cable kit. "The professionally proven quality meets all the requirements for entry-level welding: the Edition robot combines all the advantages. The models launched start with the KR CYBERTECH nano ARC HW Edition robot. More Edition bots will be rolled out consecutively.
