At the recent iREX (Tokyo International Robot Show in Japan), Kawasaki Heavy Industries showed a robot goat "BEX", which has the design idea of a goat. It is equipped with a horn that emits light, a seat and handles on the back, and can carry up to 100 kg for movement.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which exhibited BEX, is a company that has more than half a century of expertise in manufacturing industrial robots. The company began developing a humanoid robot, "Kaleido", in 2015, which has been continuously updated since the release of the first generation in 2017, and has been promoted to the seventh generation at the iREX 2022 show not long ago.

In order to make Kaleido's skills available to society in advance, Kawasaki Heavy Industries is developing two types of Kaleido-derived robots, the more slender humanoid robot "RHP Friends" and the quadruped walking robot "RHP Bex (BEX)"
During the development of Kaleido, the difficulties of the bipedal robot became apparent. Because humanoid robots have the same shape as humans, they are versatile and have the potential to do what humans can do, but it will take a long time before they are put into practice.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries chose to develop the quadruped walking robot BEX because it believed that the walking skills cultivated during the development of humanoid robots could be used in quadruped walking robots.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries has positioned the BEX as one of the humanoid robots and will continue to develop it. Four-legged robots already exist, but there aren't many like humanoid robots. The lower body of the BEX has a "hybrid system" that can change posture. In addition to standing and walking, it can also bend its knees and move quickly using the knee wheels at its "joints" on a more lubricated surface.
Now BEXs can be used to carry light goods or crops, and can also be viewed in industrial plants through camera images. In addition, BEX is not only flexible in terms of mobile methods, but also flexible in its functions.
Although the base is a humanoid robot, the upper body of the BEX is not fixed, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries is considering adapting it to practical use cases such as construction sites and plant cultivation, and wants to make the BEX an open innovation platform by concentrating on the four legs of the lower body.
If you want to build a modern ranch, you can also consider changing horseback riding to riding a "robot goat", but at the current speed of the BOX, it is unlikely that you can "gallop" or participate in horse races.
