Showcasing the future of electric cars and smart cities around the world

This week's pre-season testing of advanced electric racing cars in Valencia, Spain, marks the opening of Season 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. At the beginning of its third year as a title partner, ABB will be showcasing its innovative products and services paving the way for e-mobility and smart cities at competition venues around the world.

The calendar of 14 competitions begins with back-to-back competitions in Saudi Arabia on November 22-23 and ends in London in July 2020. Jakarta, Indonesia and Seoul, Korea, have added two new capital city malls. In addition, two iconic sedan manufacturers, Porsche and Mercedes, will be part of a fleet of 22 teams.

ABB plays a central role in the entire electric car value chain. The first is the various robots on the assembly line to distribute electricity from renewable sources. ABB already offers a wide range of solutions through its free@home products to manage the power efficiency of buildings through a variety of products that control power storage, distribution and management. ABB has around 5 million smart home solution components, such as control panels, sensors and software, installed in more than 40 countries around the world.

In the transportation sector, ABB provides solutions ranging from grid power distribution to charging points for cars, buses and trucks, as well as electrification solutions for ships, railways, trams and cable cars. With 11,000 ABB DC fast chargers sold in 76 countries around the world, it is a skills leader in this category.

ABB will continue to be the official charging partner of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, a companion racing series to ABB Formula E. The ABB Terra 53 DC charger powered the I-PACE SUV race car throughout the race weekend.
