Beirut's main hospital and a campus will receive ABB's products and solutions to rebuild and accelerate rebuilding operations together with civil society in the city.

In collaboration with ABB's local collaborator, Harb Electric, the product donation will include UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems for each hospital, as well as a variety of smart power equipment and power distribution solutions.
UPS and smart power components will be supplied as part of ABB's Total Solutions Program to future-proof the hospital's power and power infrastructure in the event of a power outage.
The infrastructure will also supply electrical activation equipment for all critical loads in the operating room and rooms, including X-ray machines, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and respirators.
Sister Nicolas Akiki of Rosary Sisters Hospital said: "Our hospital was severely affected by the explosion due to its close proximity to the port area. We suffered extensive structural and equipment damage, which meant that we could no longer operate in all medical and administrative parts and could not treat any patients.
"We are very grateful for your help. Your support will help us further enhance our mission by rebuilding our hospital so that it can rise again and best serve our community. ”
Rosary Sisters Hospital has 200 beds and will also provide much-needed medical care to the community once it recovers.
The electrical equipment and systems donated by ABB will also be donated to the Geitaoui - UMC Hospital and Quarantine Government Hospital in Lebanon, which continues to care for the sick and wounded despite structural damage.
"Our hospitals were also severely affected by the explosion," said Karen Sakr, hospital chief executive officer of the quarantine government hospital. "ABB's commitment to providing reliable power and resilient electrical systems to many of our theatres, infirmaries, equipment and staff areas will allow us to continue to rebuild critical parts of the hospital and continue to provide best-in-class and accessible patient care, well-being and safety."
Many components will also be used on campus to equip and replace aging electrical infrastructure that was almost completely destroyed in the explosion. ABB's smart power and distribution components will ensure the security of power supply from the power supply to the switch, providing a safe and comfortable environment for students, faculty and staff in time for the next school year.
Rodolphe Abboud, principal of Sacred Heart College, said: "We are working hard these days to revise the most important parts of Sacred Heart College at the beginning of the new school year. ABB's donation has been instrumental in helping us achieve two central goals: restoring our university and launching our newly designed long-distance learning program so that we can begin the 2020-2021 academic year on time. ”
In the August 4 explosion, multiple public buildings, including 159 campuses and several hospitals, were damaged, more than 6,500 people were injured, and 300,000 people's homes were damaged or destroyed.
