1. Check the standard of the equipment hole: Assuming that the standard of the equipment hole is not suitable, some of the threads of the sensor will be slightly worn during the equipment process. This not only affects the sealing performance of the equipment, but also makes the pressure sensor inadequate, and may even cause safety hazards. Thread wear can be avoided only by fitting the machine hole (Thread Industry Specification 1/2-20 UNF 2B), and the machine hole can generally be inspected with a machine hole gauge to make appropriate adjustments.
2. Insist on the cleaning of equipment holes: It is very important to insist on the cleaning of equipment holes and avoid melt blockage to ensure the normal operation of equipment. Before the extruder is cleaned, all pressure sensors should be removed from the barrel to avoid damage. When the sensor is withdrawn, the melt may flow into the device hole and harden, and if the remaining melt is not removed, the top of the sensor may be damaged when the sensor is re-installed. The cleaning kit removes these melt residues. However, repeated cleaning processes may deepen the damage to the sensor caused by the equipment holes. Assuming this happens, a way to increase the orientation of the sensor in the device hole should be employed.
3. Choose the right orientation: When the equipment of the pressure sensor is too close to the upstream of the production line, the unmelted material may wear the top of the sensor; Assuming that the sensor is installed too far behind, there may be a blocking zone of molten material between the sensor and the screw stroke, where the melt may be degraded, and the pressure signal may be distorted. If the sensor is too deep into the barrel, the screw may touch the top of the sensor during rotation and cause damage. In general, the sensor can be located on the barrel in front of the strainer, in front of and behind the melt pump, or in the mold.
4. Careful cleaning; Before cleaning the extruder barrel with a wire brush or a special compound, all sensors should be disassembled. This is because both cleaning methods may result in damage to the sensor's flutter film. When the barrel is heated, the sensor should also be taken apart and the top should be scrubbed with a soft, non-abrasive cloth, and the holes in the sensor should be cleaned with a clean drill and guide bushing.
