Siemens Digital Industries and Daimler Trucks have announced a new collaboration to leverage Siemens Xcelerator industrial software and services portfolio to build an advanced digital engineering pipeline. The channel will enable Daimler Vans to explore innovations in commercial vehicles, implement efficient development and lifecycle management of van and bus products, and roll it out globally in Daimler Vans Engineering Centers, brands and business units.
Dr. Andreas Gorbach, Member of the Management Board and Head of Truck Technology at Daimler Trucks Holdings, said: "Joining forces with Siemens will help Daimler Trucks create a globally integrated IT and engineering environment in which we can leverage advanced technologies to build the future of the transportation profession and help our customers achieve greater success." As part of the collaboration, Daimler Trucks will deploy Teamcenter® lifecycle management software to mask the bill-of-materials (BOM) function as a standard PLM solution for Daimler Trucks in the future. The new digital channel enabled by Siemens Xcelerator will be able to converge and integrate the workflows, systems and associated mechanical design, electrical design and simulation data of the Daimler Truck team, and will continue to expand the application of other Siemens Xcelerator solutions, including NX™ product engineering software, as Daimler's Truck needs expand.
