Siemens invested $25 million to acquire a minority stake in WiTricity, a United States wireless charging technology company. Siemens and WiTricity will work together to drive innovation in a new type of wireless car charging mall that is expected to reach $2 billion by 2028 in Europe and North America alone, according to Siemens, and the two companies will seek to bridge the gap in the global standardization of wireless charging for electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to complete interoperability between vehicles and infrastructure, and support market penetration, in addition to collaborating on skills development for wireless charging systems
