When the short-circuit current disappears, the temperature drops, and the sodium metal recovers its outstanding electrical conductivity. The self-resettable fuse can only constrain the short-circuit current, and cannot really break the circuit. The advantage is that there is no need to replace the melt, and it can be reused.
