3RW51 soft starter is a new domestic soft starter product developed and launched by Siemens on the basis of a deep understanding of the soft start application in the market. It can be widely used in fans, pumps, conveyor belts, compressors and other loads that need to be controlled for starting and stopping.

How the soft starter works

By limiting the starting current and starting torque, the soft starter reliably protects against mechanical shocks and grid voltage drops during starting. By controlling the conduction angle of the thyristor, the motor starting voltage is reduced, and the motor starting voltage is increased to the rated voltage within the set starting time. With this step-free control of the motor voltage, the motor can be adjusted according to the load characteristics of the driven machine, and the mechanical equipment can be smoothly accelerated, thereby significantly improving the operating performance of the mechanical equipment, reducing maintenance costs and prolonging the service life

Typical Applications

Soft starters are widely used in municipal, metallurgy, petrochemical, mining, construction, automobile, textile, papermaking and other fields. Typical loads are as follows:

The water pump effectively improves the water hammer effect and protects mechanical parts such as pipes, seals, and valves

The fan reduces mechanical wear and impact on the power grid, saves maintenance costs, and the compressor achieves smooth start and prolongs the service life of the motor

The belt conveyor reduces the damage to the belt by mechanical impact, avoids the displacement of the transported materials, protects the transportation object and so on.

The size of the soft starter should always be greater than the current value of the motor (rated working current). In the event of deviations from the rated value, it is necessary to select a soft starter with a larger specification.

Installation altitude: up to 5000m, more than 1000m need to consider capacity reduction, the specific capacity reduction coefficient is shown in the product sample.
