When building a safety system, it is particularly important to arrange the components of the safety system reasonably, which determines whether the reliability of the entire system can be guaranteed. Nowadays, with the gradual popularization of safety concepts, people's requirements for safety automation are getting higher and higher, and the scenarios of safety PLC applications are also increasing.
SINCE ITS INTRODUCTION IN 1995, THE SAFETY PLC (PSS 3000) FROM PILZ HAS BEEN VERY WELL RECEIVED BY USERS OVER THE YEARS. Its successor, the PSS 4000 system, is a simple, easy-to-use safety PLC system that keeps pace with the times and optimizes the customer experience.
What are the tricks of such an easy-to-use safety PLC?
Flexible and convenient hardware configuration
The hardware architecture of the PSS 4000 system is based on the modular remote I/O station PSSuniversal. Each head module is capable of adding up to 64 modules, and there are not many restrictions on the order, type, and power supply group between these modules.
The test pulse setting of the safety input module and the on/off test function setting of the safety output module are all done by selecting the module menu.
The steps to implement such an intuitive and convenient hardware configuration method are as follows:
1. Select the PSS 4000 header module of the desired performance type in the software tool PAS4000, and assign the device name and IP address required by the header module.
2. On the right side of the module editor window, add various input and output modules required by the application, such as: security module, non-security module, digital module, analog module, special interface module, etc., which can be added to the desired position in the site by double-clicking or dragging the mouse.
Easy-to-understand software tool PAS4000
The software tool PAS4000 for the PSS 4000 system has been pre-stored with a complete library of safety function blocks, and the pin names of the various safety function blocks are clearly defined. Users can directly access it to complete the design of security applications.
PAS4000 software tools are based on the IEC 61131-3 standard, which makes it easier and more versatile to edit and read the code of safe programs.
Not only that, but for those with little experience in PLC programming, PAS4000 also offers a fully graphical programming language: PASmulti. Professional security applications can be done with a simple drag and drop of the mouse.
Easily meet distributed control requirements
The PSS 4000 system is based on Industrial Real-Time Ethernet: SafetyNET p for decentralized connection and control. Thanks to the flexible topology of Ethernet, there is no need to consider the specific topology between sites when using software networking, as long as all sites are added to the hardware configuration. In this way, the customer can save a lot of design time.
Troubleshooting is carried out quickly during the commissioning phase
In order to improve the user experience during the commissioning phase on site, the software tool PAS4000 not only provides signal monitoring, but also the enforcement and tracking of safety signals/variables. The user can configure the relevant signals or variables according to the required tracking rules and let the PSS 4000 system automatically record the entire history of the signal/variable change. In addition, the PAS4000 software tool has added a function for the enforcement of safety signals/variables within 12 hours. In this way, it is not only convenient for on-site functional debugging, but also can quickly eliminate on-site signal faults in the debugging stage.

Pilz: Can safety gate switches be used in series?
Recently, the "core shortage problem" has been plaguing major industrial control brand manufacturers, from safety PLCs and inverters, to safety door locks, etc., generally because of the lack of chips, resulting in longer delivery times, and some even unable to deliver the goods at all. This has created a "difficult problem" for the friends in the electrical design department.
