3) Red and yellow: The safety relay has a proprietary color, generally yellow, or red, or these two colors as the main color (just like our explosion-proof safety design, the danger side, and the intrinsic safety end are usually marked in blue.) Of course, these are just scratching the surface.
4) [Core] Safer: Due to the difference in design principles: ordinary relays cannot achieve high diagnostic coverage (DC), and can only be used in lower safety levels in mechanical industries such as Cat.B/1 and SIL1 in process control industries, so it can be considered that ordinary relays are not safe enough. Through the requirements of relays and the auxiliary design of logic circuits, Anji's diagnostic coverage rate is high, and some can even reach 99.9%. And in some occasions with high safety requirements, there are also regulations that certified safety relays must be used to meet safety requirements!
5) Forced guidance structure: "safety relay" is not a "relay without fault", but a regular action when a fault occurs. Unlike conventional relays, safety relays have a forced-guide contact structure (or other protection method) that ensures safety in the event of contact welding.
When the NO is in a closed state (whether the contact is closed normally after the coil is powered on, or the contact is in an abnormal state due to adhesion after the coil is powered off), the NC contact must be in the open state;
When the NC is in a closed state (whether the coil is de-energized and the contact is in normal closure, or the coil is in the power-on state but the contact is in an abnormal state due to adhesion), the NO contact must be in the disconnected state. In other words, regardless of whether the coil is powered on or lost, and regardless of whether the contacts are normal or not, one set of NO contacts and NC contacts are closed, and the other set of contacts is forced to be guided in a disconnected state.
6) From the perspective of relays, you can see the difference between safety relays and ordinary relays:
Ordinary relay: The contact is fused, which will cause the two contacts (NO/NC) to appear ON at the same time.
Forced guide relay: Under the action of the internal forced guide rod, even if the contacts are fused, the two contacts (NO/NC) will not be ON at the same time. The forced-guided structure is a simple and effective way to detect contact fusion failures.
To put it simply: safety relays are safer and more reliable, and are suitable for industrial safety occasions.
