With the progress of the industrial level and the improvement of people's safety awareness, more and more attention has been paid to the safe operation of equipment in the workshop. As a professional supplier of safe automation solutions, Pilz's safety products are used in a wide range of industries. The configurable safety control system PNOZmulti is appreciated by users for its reliable performance and application flexibility.
Is it good or not? You only know when you use it
With the increasing refinement of the product manufacturing process, the number of steps in the production process has increased, and the number of stations in the production process has also increased, and more and more safety sensors are needed on site, such as safety gratings, safety door locks, etc. With the basic module PNOZ m B1 from the PNOZmulti2 series and the extension module PNOZ m EF LINK, the wiring work on site can be made orderly and standardized, and the wiring workload can be effectively reduced.
PNOZ m B1 has an Ethernet interface and is expandable, thanks to the memory stick as a storage carrier compared to the previous generation of the basic module PNOZ m B0, which allows for a larger memory and a more convenient USB interface. The PNOZ m EF LINK module is a decentralised distributor with IP67 waterproof protection for connecting signals from field safety sensors to the control system.
Practical application of PNOZmulti in the bottling industry
Different industries, due to the different product processes, the selection of safety modules is also different. Taking the filling industry as an example, the current mainstream rotary filling machine in the market is divided into two main bodies in terms of space design, namely: the main body of the filling machine and the valve terminal part of the valve station.
This kind of equipment, according to the use habits, usually open a number of safety doors around the machine, use the LINK module as a relay, the magnetic door lock of each safety door, the emergency stop button corresponding to the safety door and other safety equipment signals are connected to the LINK module through the finished line, and then the LINK module transmits the signal to the safety controller in the electric cabinet, so that the circuit design simplifies the physical wiring to a high level in terms of visual unity, space utilization and heat dissipation of the wire duct. It minimizes the wiring workload during on-site construction, and also facilitates troubleshooting by engineers during commissioning. The status indicator on the LINK module body clearly indicates the device status of each port, covering almost all the status of field devices, which is too convenient for on-site debugging engineers.
The safety controller PNOZ m B1, which is installed in the electrical cabinet, receives the signal from the distributed LINK module in the field and outputs the corresponding output according to the internal program logic. PNOZ m B1 enables more precise and concise programming and management of safety devices in the individual zones, making the logic clearer and more flexible. In addition, PNOZ m B1 is equipped with a status indication function, which allows the user to view the information displayed on the LCD screen by simply using the dial wheel on the product body during use.
Diagram of the overall connection between the PNOZ m EF Multi LINK and the PNOZ small controller
The combination of PNOZ m B1 and Link modules makes the application very flexible, and the small amount of wiring on site saves space in the electrical cabinet, which is a very good choice for machines with a large number of safety devices such as magnetic door locks and emergency stop switches that need to be managed in different areas.

Pilz: IEC 62443 – Industrial Information Security Standard (Part II)
In the context of industrial automation, the term "safety" refers to the functional safety of equipment, which means that people and the environment are protected from damage from foreseeable coercion from machines, and the residual risk is more or less always present, but the residual risk cannot exceed the acceptable level. Through the use of security relay ...

Peel magnetic relays - an introduction to the classification of relays and their functions
1. The role of intermediate relays
It plays the role of converting and transmitting control signals, that is to say, its input signal is the energizing and power-off signal of the coil, and the output signal is the contact action of the intermediate relay. Essentially, it is a type of voltage relay ...

Peel magnetic relays – testing of relays
(1) Measure the resistance of the contact: use the resistance of the multimeter to measure the resistance of the normally closed contact and the moving point, and the resistance value should be 0; The resistance between the normally open contact and the moving point is infinite. From this, it is possible to distinguish which is a normally closed contact and which is normally open.
(2) Coil resistance: multimeter R...

Peel magnetic relays – the difference between solid state relays and mechanical relays
1. The structure/working principle of the two is different
Mechanical relays consist of an iron core, coils, and contacts. When the coil is energized, the current in the coil generates a magnetic field that makes the contacts act, thus completing the working principle of the mechanical relay.
Solid state relays are made up entirely of electronic components. That...

Peel magnetic relays – a common fault of electromagnetic relays
1. After the power failure, the armature cannot be released immediately, which may be due to the stuck movable core, the core air gap is too small, the spring strain and the oil caused by the core contact surface, etc. Universal relay maintenance should be treated differently by the cause of failure, or adjust the air gap to protect it from 0.02 to 0.05 mm, ...
