1. Bearing lubrication failure or bearing surface damage

Contaminants can disrupt bearing lubrication and damage bearing surfaces. This will cause the friction to generate heat. If the problem cannot be solved, the increased heat may cause a catastrophic failure of the bearing and the Buke motor to stop running.

2. Block the airflow or liquid cooling channel

Motors naturally generate heat, which is caused by wasted energy. While the Buke servo motor is designed with a cooling fan, external blower, vents, radiator and liquid cooling system to allow heat dissipation. However, contaminants can still clog vents, cooling pipes and cooling surfaces, and prevent the motor from cooling properly. This increased heat** can eventually damage the mechanical and electrical components of the motor and can cause the motor to shut down.

3. Cause the imbalance of the rotating components

When contaminants adhere to motor rotors, fan blades, or other rotating components, they add excess weight. This weight creates an imbalance, which leads to increased vibration. Vibrations caused by an imbalance in rotating parts can shorten the life of the bearing and can lead to motor failure.

4. Deterioration of electrical insulation performance

Electrical insulation breakdowns can get worse over time, and contaminants will release current from the conductors in the windings. In formally wound windings, the insulating tape and varnish/resin will carbonize and decompose. When stresses caused by contaminants break the insulation, "pinholes" in the enamel insulation can cause electrical shorts in the randomly wound windings. The result of insulation breakdown is the reduction of insulation resistance, which may eventually lead to an electrical short circuit, resulting in the shutdown of the servo motor.

So what are the solutions?

1. Correctly select a cooling motor with a completely enclosed fan;

2. Install and maintain filters in air or liquid cooling systems to prevent clogging;

3. Control nearby pollution sources;

4. Ensure that bearings, cooling systems, brakes or other motor system components are properly sealed;

5. Clean the cooling vent and radiator surface as needed without contaminants entering the servo motor.
