The general input point is that several input points share a COM point, and the source type is in the wiring, because the device already has its own driving power, only the COM point and the input point can be shorted. The drain type, which requires an external power supply, can drive the input.

Drain input: The current direction of the input terminal is from the outside into the module;

Source input: The current direction of the input terminal is from the module (that is, the module provides power to the external circuit).

When using photoelectric switch input, it is very important to pay attention to selecting the leakage type or source type input, otherwise it cannot be matched. If the photoelectric switch is in PNP form, the source input should be selected; If it is NPN type, select a leaky input.

The Mitsubishi FX2N, as well as the former PLC, is a leaky input.

Mitsubishi FX3U and future PLCs can be used to change the source type or drain type input with a jumper. However, a module can only be used in one type, and the same module cannot be mixed.

As for the Q series, there are active input modules, as well as drain input modules.

Source type and drain type refer to DC input/output type PL, which is the common terminal COM port of the input/output point for PLC, and when the common point is connected to the negative potential, it is the source type wiring; When a positive potential is attached, it is a leaky wiring.

Perhaps in other words, the source type is useful for high levels, and the drain type is useful for low levels.

The source input refers to the input point connected to the DC positive terminal, and the useful drain input refers to the input point connected to the DC negative terminal.

The source output means that the output is DC positive, and the drain output means that the output is DC negative. The choice of source and drain determines which sensor to use, and he determines whether the voltage of the COM port is positive or negative.

The input type of PLC is split leak type and source type, the former refers to the positive signal input (PNP can be used directly), and the latter refers to the negative signal input (NPN can be directly used), otherwise the input must be converted by relay.

There are different types of sensors, but the most commonly used ones are two-wire and three-wire, and two-wire and load in series. Most of the three wires are open collector outputs, and the three wires are the collectors of the positive and negative power supply and the output transistor. The NPN and PNP of the sensor are based on the type of output transistor.

The NPN load is connected between the positive source and the collector, while the PNP is connected between the collector and the negative source. To use a multimeter to determine the type of sensor, you need to first give it a load, and then judge it according to its output voltage.

The positive termination of the power supply of the proximity switch and the photoelectric switch is connected to the positive and negative public end of the power supply, and the output is connected to the input end of the PLC.
