Siemens supports the transition to sustainable infrastructure with new digital solutions

Siemens unveiled its face at the 2022 Lighting and Construction Electrical Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany under the theme of "Smart Infrastructure Can Continue Infrastructure". During the exhibition, Siemens Key Mention highlighted its digital vision as a key pillar of the infrastructure transformation needed to address climate change and global sustainability challenges. Siemens offers a wide range of products, solutions and services to help transform buildings and power grids.

Transition burns eyebrows: By 2050, it is estimated that the global population will be close to 10 billion, most of whom will live in cities. Buildings account for about 40% of the world's total energy consumption, with industry accounting for about one-third. Together, digital buildings and electrification will support a more sustainable future.

Custom-built solutions for future-proof buildings

Building X is a portfolio of smart buildings from Siemens for net-zero energy buildings, featuring AI-enabled applications, secure networking, and openness. Building X is the first product built on Siemens' Xcelerator. Siemens Xcelerator is Siemens' open digital business channel that accelerates digital transformation in industry, buildings, power grids, and transportation.

Siemens also demonstrated its extensive range of building services. These services combine skills with the expertise of digital building experts to reduce costs, increase revenue and growth, meet sustainability and regulatory requirements, and optimize building functionality. Among them, the Energy Flexibility Service is based on the "XaaS" business model, which can support customers to integrate different drivers, optimize for alternative power and fluctuating power market prices, and then assist enterprises to complete carbon reduction policies and reduce power costs.

Siemens' integrated building management system, Desigo CC, has been upgraded with a number of new functions, allowing users to monitor Desigo CC sites through the Building X Operations Manager cloud to meet the different needs of different customers in building management, whether internal or external, in the cloud or in a hybrid setting.

To ensure the safety and interests of tenants, employees and visitors

Health, safety and livability are important concerns for building owners and operators. At the trade fair, Siemens showcased a range of digital skills aimed at maintaining people and infrastructure funding. In terms of safety, Siemens presented a series of fire safety solutions and services, including the Cerberus FIT fire safety solution for small and medium-sized buildings, and the lithium battery fire safety solution.

For the first time, Siemens is also presenting its portfolio of digital fire safety services. By connecting fire detection systems to the cloud, combined with data and expert knowledge, this portfolio of services can help customers "move from reactive to proactive" to meet and exceed safety principles. Detector connectivity to services such as condition monitoring, remote diagnostic reports, and automatically updated eLogbooks enables customers to minimize the impact of external risk factors, provide real-time data for agile resolution planning, and improve business continuity through uninterrupted operation.

In addition, Siemens is showcasing its new security solutions, including Building X Security Manager. The cloud usage program can be combined with sophisticated solutions to support both cloud and on-premise deployments. Solutions such as Siveillance Video, Control Pro or Siveillance Access, as well as third-party solutions, can be seamlessly integrated using modern APIs and low-code. This integration opens up new possibilities, such as creating a "cockpit of the future" or shifting to data-driven and smartphone-based access control to improve the occupancy experience.

Optimize the functionality of all types of buildings

Our building automation products focus on efficient rooms and building functionality. Siemens showcased the recently released PXC7 manipulator, which completes the next generation of Desigo automation and demonstrates the ability to deploy BACnet Secure Connect to enhance cybersecurity.

Siemens is very concerned about indoor air quality (IAQ) and will be showcasing its new IAQ multi-sensor and recently upgraded RDG200 thermostat with a built-in CO2 sensor that balances energy efficiency and IAQ. In terms of dynamic hydronic balancing of heating and cooling systems, Siemens is presenting the new six-way PICV (Pressure-Independent Control Valve) and the KNX for intelligent building control, which features a complete DIN rail device series and a TC5 room touchscreen control unit for multi-domain use, such as color temperature control or logic operation.

Enlighted, the smart and sustainable building company of Siemens, has released new solutions, including Space Intelligence and Location Intelligence, that aim to improve the use of IoT building data and then improve operational power and sustainability. With Space Intelligence, new data APIs on building occupancy, power, and location will be able to help companies understand activity within their spaces, gain deeper analytics, provide accurate ESG reports, and use visualization capabilities to make better spatial decisions. Location Intelligence is a real-time location service (RTLS) that improves workflows and property management, especially in healthcare and warehouse environments.

Focus on smart electrical installations and power distribution

Siemens has also demonstrated energy-efficient, reliable, and cost-effective electrical installations and distribution skills to meet the challenges posed by the increasing number of customers, complex power distribution, and the integration of renewable power and additional loads, such as EV charging, into the grid. SENTRON devices with measurement and communication functions provide intelligent solutions for the complete maintenance of people, plants and systems, as well as for the transparency of energy flows, including new and retrofitted systems. The evaluated data, supplemented by condition monitoring, can lead to significant improvements in energy efficiency and improved life cycle assessment. Installers and switchgear manufacturers benefit from an innovative, flexible and future-proof system that includes easy planning and fast installation.

Intelligent power distribution maximizes network power across the value chain and ensures sustainability of progress. At the exhibition, Siemens will be showcasing the SIVACON 8PS busway system, which offers a number of advantages for intelligent power distribution compared to conventional cable installation methods, including: simple and fast 3D planning, BIM compliance, practical BusbarCheck App support and archiving, a high degree of customization to new usage concepts, and the ability to communicate with higher-level systems or the cloud.
