Honeywell's JetWave satellite communication system, Air China's A321 retrofit project, was successfully certified

Shanghai, China, February 7, 2022 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and Beijing Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. (Ameco) have successfully completed the Honeywell MCS-8420 JetWave satellite communications system for Air China's Airbus A321 aircraft and obtained a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This is the first cabin Ka satellite communication system modification project completed by a Chinese MRO company with independent intellectual property rights, and the successful certification of the project will further promote the development of inflight connectivity services in China, helping airlines improve operational efficiency and improve passenger flight experience.

Honeywell's Model MCS-8420 JetWave satellite communications system is designed to connect to China's Ka-band satellite network and can be deployed in the connectivity solution of China's fleet of airlines. After the installation of the system, the fleet will be able to access high-speed internet, which will not only enable passengers to experience high-speed Wi-Fi at an altitude of 10,000 meters, but also help cabin crews better manage aircraft, reduce fleet fuel costs and avoid aircraft delays.

Honeywell's MCS-8420 JetWave satellite communication system was approved for access to China Satcom's Ka high-throughput satellite network in November 2021. In August of the same year, Honeywell and Lufthansa Technology Co., Ltd. obtained Supplemental Type Approval (VSTC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for the modification of the satellite communication system for the Airbus A320 aircraft. The prototype was first introduced in 2018 and unveiled at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), and in 2019 it was tested in China on Honeywell's Boeing 757 connected aircraft with positive results.
