Honeywell has launched a range of solutions for emissions control and reduction designed to help customers achieve carbon neutrality across a wide range of industries. The initial focus of the solution portfolio will be on helping upstream, midstream and downstream customers in the oil and gas industry monitor and reduce fugitive emissions of methane and other hazardous gases. Methane is the second largest greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide, and its greenhouse effect is about 25 times that of carbon dioxide*.
Emission control and reduction solutions
Honeywell combines a portfolio of fixed, portable, and personal protective gas detection solutions with gas cloud imaging systems to provide customers with early detection technology for methane and other hazardous gas escapes, including pinpointing leak locations and related data analysis and trends. With this data, users can identify and act quickly on risks such as leaks, significantly reducing production losses and meeting regulatory requirements.
Combining wireless gas detection technology and an enterprise-grade data management solution, the solution works in tandem with existing leak detection and repair testing methods to improve reporting accuracy and enable users to identify production losses faster, resulting in increased productivity.

A new commitment to sustainability
Honeywell today announced a series of new commitments to further strengthen its sustainability commitments, building on last year's goal of achieving carbon neutrality across all operations and facilities by 2035. The new commitments, which include working with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to develop science-based targets that include other indirect greenhouse gas emissions from the value chain (i.e., Scope 3 emissions), represent a continuation of the company's multi-year sustainability efforts. Since 2004, Honeywell has reduced the greenhouse gas emissions intensity of its operations and facilities by more than 90 percent, and supports the overall goals of the Paris Agreement, adopted at COP21 in December 2015.
Honeywell's methane detection solutions are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2022.
