Shanghai, China, April 7, 2022 - Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) announced that it will adopt Honeywell's IsoFlex™ process for Hebei Bohang New Materials Co., Ltd. ("Hebei Bohang") biodegradable materials integration project, and provide process licensing and process package design services to increase the company's biodegradable polymer production capacity. The project marks the first application of Honeywell's IsoFlex™ process in the field of biodegradable polymers, contributing to the development of a circular economy.
The Honeywell IsoFlex™ process uses industrially applied isomerization technology to convert mixed butane into n-butane that can be used in downstream petrochemical processes. With the IsoFlex™ process, Hebei Bohang can meet the processing needs of downstream units by processing mixed butane and significantly increasing the n-butane yield, increasing the yield of biodegradable polymers and contributing to the development of a circular economy.
With the formulation and promotion of China's "dual carbon" goal, the development of circular economy has become one of the important drivers to achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction. The "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Circular Economy" issued by the National Development and Reform Commission in July 2021 proposes to actively and steadily promote degradable plastics, build a resource-recycling industrial system, and improve resource utilization efficiency. Biodegradable polymers can be rapidly degraded in the natural environment, and are the main raw materials in green packaging and degradable product processing.
