Emerson's new gas detectors protect employees and property by warning of hazards in extreme environments
Easy to install and commission, Rosemount open-circuit gas detectors can trigger toxic and flammable gas alarms over a wide area.
SHANGHAI, CHINA (November 16, 2021) – Emerson today introduced two new open-path gas detectors that provide reliable performance over a wide range of extreme environments and a simpler and faster installation and commissioning process to improve safety and reduce downtime. Extreme environments include severe vibration conditions and operating temperatures from -55°C (67°F) to 65°C (149°F) and are commonly found in oil and gas, refining, chemical, mining, and large refrigeration system operations.
The Rosemount ™ 935 open-path combustible gas detector uses infrared technology to detect a wide range of highly combustible hydrocarbon gases, including methane, propane, and ethylene. According to the latest statistics from the CDC's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, in the oil and gas industry alone, 22% of fatalities come from explosions (combustion or fire) and exposure to harmful gases.
The Rosemount ™935 open-circuit combustible gas detector uses ultraviolet technology to detect hydrogen sulfide and ammonia, two toxic gases commonly found in industrial facilities. The United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration considers hydrogen sulfide concentrations to reach 100ppm to pose an immediate danger to life and health. Ammonia can irritate the skin, eyes, nose and respiratory tract at 130 ppm. Both gases can be lethal after a certain level of exposure.
Tunable diode laser (TDL) technology requires perfect alignment between the beam and receiver for high reliability, and the Rosemount 936 utilizes xenon flash technology to increase installation flexibility for gas detectors. On top of that, the deviation tolerance of the two gas detectors is almost double that of the TDL, allowing users to save up to 30% of installation time and speed up the project.
"Open-path probing technology uses a light source and a detector. The light source emits a modulated beam of light through the monitored space, and the detector detects the amount of light absorbed by the gas. This method provides high altitude coverage over a wide area of up to 200 meters (656 feet) and accurate measurements, even if clouds of toxic or combustible gas drift everywhere between devices, or if 95% of the beam is obscured by fog, rain, or smoke. The system also sounds an alarm if the path is completely blocked by a physical obstacle.
The Rosemount 935 and 936 open-path gas detectors can be combined with Emerson's full portfolio of flame and gas detection products as part of a comprehensive safety system to ensure fast, proactive detection. Many facilities benefit from the use of multiple technologies for maximum protection.
Easy to install and commission, Rosemount open-circuit gas detectors can trigger toxic and flammable gas alarms over a wide area.

Fisher Fisher - What are the general occasions for which ball valves are used?
Ball valves are generally limited by sealing materials, because ball valves are usually formed by some plastic materials, the main principle of ball valves is to rely on metal balls to adjust the gas and liquid under the action of the medium, mainly the extrusion between the metal ball and the plastic valve seat to achieve the effect of adjustment.
Between the seats ...

Fisher Fisher - What role butterfly valves play in today's industry
Butterfly valve is used in industry, its characteristics can withstand high temperature, the applicable pressure range is also high, the valve nominal diameter is large, the valve body is made of carbon steel, and the sealing ring of the valve plate is made of metal ring instead of rubber ring. The butterfly valve is a circular butterfly plate as the opening and closing part and rotates with the valve stem to open, close and adjust the fluid.

Fisher Fisher - How the butterfly valve works (pictured)
The opening and closing parts of the butterfly valve are butterfly plates, which are driven by the valve stem and rotate 90° around its own axis in the valve body, so as to achieve the purpose of opening and closing or adjusting. It is mainly used to cut off the medium in the pipeline, with simple structure, flexible operation, fast switching, small size, short structure.
