Spindle speed detection
In order to prevent damage to wind turbines from overspeeding, the rotational speed is detected using inductive sensors and evaluated using safety-relevant speed monitors. The IFS24X series of inductive sensors with M12 housing (IGS24X series with M18 housing) can operate reliably at temperatures as low as -40 °C and meet CCV requirements.
Rotor final position (with electric pitch system)
Inductive sensors are used to detect the final position of the rotor blades of wind turbines. When the ifm sensor detects an object, it sends a signal to the pitch controller to stop the transmission. Inductive sensors such as IGS232 are used in the hub. These sensors are ideally suited for this application, thanks to their range, rugged design, and suitability in cold climates.
A reliable difference between a heated and a cooling lid
The annealing process of a bell annealing furnace consists of several stages. First, the heating hood (furnace) is placed on the steel coil, and the steel coil is annealed and heated in a protective gas environment. At the end of the specified annealing heating time, the heating cover is replaced with a cooling cap to control the cooling of the coil. Depending on the hood used, cooling water or shielding gas is supplied to the annealing base.
In order to reliably distinguish between the heating and cooling hoods, the targets are mounted at different positions at the bottom of the hood. Two inductive sensors are used for detection. Depending on the hood used, one of the two sensors will send a switching signal to the controller.
The location of the inlet shut-off valve
Manually operate the shut-off valve at the inlet of the high-pressure pump of the descaling device. An inductive sensor detects the position of the rod. If the shut-off valve is opened, the lever will dampen the sensor, which in turn provides a switching signal. With the help of this switching signal, the pump can be started. This prevents the high-pressure pump from accidentally starting when the inlet is closed and protects the pump from dry running.
Lock the position
Inductive sensors such as the ifm IIS246 can be used to detect the locking position of the rotor lock. The ifm sensor detects when it has reached the locked position and sends a release signal to the controller so that all parts of the rotor can be detached from the locked position. The IIS inductive sensors in the M30 design have a high degree of protection from IP 65 to IP 69K. Due to their adaptability to the temperature range down to -40°C, they are CCV compliant. They are available with CNC or no output and can be used for embedded or non-flush installations.

Attention to the selection of industrial sensors – ifm
1. According to the measurement object and measurement environment
In order to carry out a detailed measurement operation, it is necessary to consider the principle of the sensor first, which needs to analyze many factors before confirmation. Because, even if the same physical quantity is measured, there are sensors with multiple principles to choose from.

The difference between the ifm proximity switch PNP and NPN
There are two kinds of proximity switches: NPN output type (current inflow) and PNP output type (current outflow), when the current outflow sensor (PNP output type) is turned on, the current flows from the power supply to the load through the output terminal of the sensor, enters the load, and then flows to the connection.

Differential pressure sensor function – ifm sensors
A differential pressure sensor is a sensor used to measure the difference between two pressures, usually used to measure the pressure difference between the front and rear ends of a device or component.
A typical application of differential pressure sensors is to measure the difference in exhaust pressure between the front and rear channels of the exhaust particulate trap of a passenger car engine.
