Epson Robotics fieldbus I/O system operation

Create Date: 2024-8-30 12:03:23|Source: Epson/Epson

Supports industry-standard fieldbus I/O systems, supports DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, Profibus, CC-Link, provides master-slave devices, and is fully integrated into the Epson Robotics RC+ development environment.

Fieldbus I/O is used in factories around the world to reduce cabling costs, reduce setup time, and improve specification equipment selection. However, there is currently no 1 accepted fieldbus I/O specification. Instead, there are a few different norms. The most commonly used fieldbus I/O specifications include DeviceNet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, and CC-Link. The Epson RC620+ (discontinued) and RC180 controllers support everything from these 4 fieldbus I/O options. Typically, a fieldbus I/O protocol is used to standardize and devices that comply with this protocol are deployed throughout the plant. As such, Epson does not advocate or promote any one protocol, but rather underpins all four protocols, and we give customers the right to choose and choose the specifications of their fieldbus I/O solution to use in their factories.

Epson Robotics fieldbus I/O system operation

Common reasons why factories use fieldbus I/O instead of a common stand-alone I/O solution are as follows:

Signals are accessed from multiple devices, and multiple data from each device is transmitted over a single cable, eliminating the need for A/D conversion or D/A conversion. Since dozens (or hundreds) of devices are connected on a fieldbus, the wiring cost is lower, including the cost of the signal relay circuit board and the area of the device, and the system can be modified or expanded more flexibly, because multiple devices are added to a fieldbus, no additional wiring is required.

Epson robots support all 4 major fieldbus I/O specifications, including: DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, Profibus, and CC-Link. The RC620+ (discontinued), RC180, and RC90 controllers have slot options for these cards, and our Epson RC+ software is fully integrated to quickly and easily support individual fieldbus I/O specifications.

High performance: Fieldbus I/O processing is performed on the fieldbus I/O card.

Fast communication throughput is one reason for using fieldbus I/O

DeviceNet, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP are all available as master or slave solutions (master solution RC620+ (discontinued) controllers only)

Tight integration with Epson RC+ ensures the fastest throughput

Leader in ease of use: Full support for all 4 major fieldbus I/O specifications

GUI-based settings, configurable I/O mapping, and more

Fully integrated with Epson RC+, SPEL+ Speech simplifies I/O visits

Works with all Epson robot models supported by the RC620+ (discontinued), RC180 and RC90 controllers
