Invest 40 million Switzerland francs to upgrade the Global Power Electronics Center of Excellence

ABB will invest around 40 million Switzerland francs in new R&D facilities and office space in its sports and industrial automation business areas in the company's largest plant, Switzerland Switzerland Aargau, at the company's largest plant in Turkie, Aargau, Aargau. This investment will enable ABB to strengthen its position in several high-growth areas, while also enabling the company to expand its innovation capabilities.

By 2024, a new multi-purpose building will be built in Turki that meets the highest standards of energy efficiency and employee collaboration. The site will be 7,000 square meters and offer an attractive modern workplace through a combination of office space and R&D facilities. The new smart building will feature ABB's portfolio of smart products and systems, as well as digital technologies for controlling building automation and power distribution. These solutions make an important contribution to energy efficiency, climate protection, resource conservation, comfort and convenience. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2021.

As a global center of excellence, Turgi will play an important role in the advancement of these technologies, as the distance between research, development, and production facilities here facilitates the optimal exchange of ideas and information. The investment in the site will enable ABB to advance sustainable solutions in a more efficient way.

ABB has been operating in Turki since 1967 and currently employs around 1,100 people in its motion and industrial automation sectors, mainly in the energy industry and business areas. The 48,000-square-meter facility houses production workshops, R&D facilities and office space.
