At present, mankind has not completely escaped the problem of famine. This year, the pandemic has hit global food security. The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2020, released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on 13 July, projected that the number of undernourished people globally would increase by 83 million to 132 million in 2020.
The China Rural Development Report 2020, jointly released by the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the China Social Sciences Press, predicts that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (around 2025), China will have a food deficit of about 130 million tons.

At present, China's scientific and technological personnel have developed a series of heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticides rapid detection instruments and technologies, by increasing the density of sample collection in areas with serious food pollution, the construction of a food quality safety information management system based on big data, the construction of food quality and safety classification supervision, quantitative grading management and electronic traceability and early warning system will be possible.
In addition to using testing instruments to strengthen the testing of grain quality, strengthening scientific and technological investment in grain storage is also one of the important links to ensure food security. Real-time detection of the concentration of gas in the silo by installing a gas sensor in the grain silo: through the phosphine gas sensor, the concentration of phosphine gas can be detected in real time during fumigation; Through the oxygen sensor, the oxygen concentration in the warehouse can be detected in real time, which provides a basis for low-temperature and low-oxygen storage, reduces the occurrence of pests and diseases, and so on.
