Yamaha Motor Corporation of Japan has launched a new model of the horizontal multi-articulated robot (Scara robot), which can be used for electronic product assembly, etc. Compared to the previous one, the functions have been improved, such as the work time can be reduced by about 10%. Yamaha Motor will promote the high functionality of the new model in order to expand sales.

The price is 798,000 yen (about 50,000 yuan) excluding tax, which is the same as the existing model. It will be sold on a global scale, mainly in Japan. The annual sales volume of the plan will be about double the current one, increasing to 3,650 units. Yoshiaki Fukukawa, General Manager of Yamaha's Robotics Division, expressed his expectations for the new model, "Due to the shortage of labor, labor saving and automation in the production line have become an issue. Demand will continue to be added in the future."

Yamaha Motor's horizontal articulated robot was developed for the company's motorcycle production line and introduced in 1976. The previous generation, which was launched in January 2014, was highly evaluated for its price-performance ratio, and sales were expanded.

Yamaha Motor accounts for about 20% of the global horizontal multi-articulated robot ratio, second only to Seiko Epson, and will compete for the proportion of shopping malls by investing in new products.
