Common faults and solutions of Yaskawa inverter

(1) Overcurrent, display character: OC. The reason for tripping is the short circuit of UVW at the output end, the load is too large, the acceleration/deceleration time is set incorrectly or the torque is unreasonable, resulting in overcurrent or overheating of the main circuit module. Check whether there is a short circuit in the junction box of the motor, whether the motor winding is short-circuited to the ground and between phases, and whether the cable from the inverter to the motor is short-circuited to the ground or between phases, reduce the load appropriately, and reset the acceleration and deceleration time and torque lift. If the load is disconnected and the inverter is still faulty in overcurrent, it means that the inverter circuit of the inverter is faulty, check the quality of the IGBT module of the inverter circuit, and replace the faulty module.

(2) Overvoltage, display character: OV. The reason for the trip is that the DC bus generates an overvoltage, the power supply voltage is not within the specified range, the DC voltage of the main circuit is too high, and the acceleration/deceleration time is set incorrectly. The moment of inertia of the load should be appropriately reduced, and if the OV is acting when the load is suddenly unloaded, it is necessary to consider adding a braking unit so that the voltage on the filter capacitor will not rise too fast due to charging. Check the input power supply voltage with a multimeter to see whether the input voltage is within the allowable range and whether the input voltage is too high; Check whether there is a fault in the sampling feedback loop, check the corresponding parameter settings inside the inverter, whether the maximum torque of the motor is set too high, and adjust it accordingly if it is too high.

(3) Under voltage, display character: UV. It shows that there is a problem with the power input part of the inverter, there is a device failure or poor connection in the power supply circuit, and there is a load with a large starting current in the same power supply system, and the operation sequence is improper.

(4) Overload, display character: OL. Overload faults include inverter overload and motor overload. It may be caused by reasons such as too short acceleration time, too large DC braking volume, too low grid voltage, and too heavy load. It can generally be eliminated by extending the acceleration time, extending the braking time, checking the grid voltage, etc. Heavy loads may be caused by the inability of the selected motor and inverter to drag the load, or by poor mechanical lubrication. The former must replace high-power motors and inverters; The latter should overhaul the load equipment and strengthen lubrication and maintenance.

(5) Overheating, display character: OH. If the motor has a temperature detection device, check the heat dissipation of the motor; If the temperature of the inverter is too high, check the ventilation of the inverter, whether the fan power supply connection is normal, whether the connector is loose, and whether the motor is reversed; When the fan rotates, whether the mechanical noise is too large, whether the fan speed is slow, if this happens, try to rotate by hand after stopping to see whether the bearing rotates flexibly, whether there is mechanical jamming or noise, if there is any, replace the bearing in time; Whether the ambient temperature is too high (higher than 40 °C), whether the doors and windows of the room are too tight, resulting in insufficient overall ventilation in the room, and the heat is not easy to dissipate, at this time, attention should be paid to strengthening ventilation and improving the surrounding environmental temperature.

(6) PG open, display character: PGO. When the inverter is closed-loop controlled, the speed read out of the encoder cannot be fed back to the inverter, and this fault will be reported, and the U1-05 has no speed feedback value. The main causes of this fault are: the wire connection from the encoder to the PG card, the wiring error of the PG card, and the encoder damage. The encoder and PG card should be rewired, or replaced.

(7) Ground fault, display character: GF. If the inverter reports a grounding fault, you should check whether the output cable of the inverter and the motor are insulated, if the motor is damaged and the motor is short-circuited to the ground, the motor can be replaced.
