The IF Design Award is held annually in Hannover, organized by iF Design GmbH, the world's oldest independent design agency.
In 2020, three ifm products stood out from their competitors and won the approval of an international jury of experts: from a pool of 7,298 products from 56 countries, the jury was asked to select the coveted design. This won this year's IF Design Award: MVQ Smart Valve Sensor, OGD Laser Distance Sensor, and O2I Barcode/QR Code Reader, which stood out from many of the world's leading design brands and won the Grand Prize.
The MVQ Smart Valve Sensor is used to accurately detect valve position and provides LED indication for easy viewing from all directions. This visual feedback can be used to determine valve status even from a distance. In addition, the inductive sensing surface on the top of the sensor can be used to set different valve positions without contact. LEDs provide visual indication to guide the user through the setup process.
OGD laser distance sensors are used for quality control in industrial production systems. Thanks to the PMD time-of-flight measurement technology, the sensor reliably detects even small objects and detects errors within seconds, thus guaranteeing precision production. 2 clearly visible LEDs indicate the switching point. When a preset value is reached, the user receives optimal feedback from the LEDs. With its compact and robust design, the sensor is ideal for applications where space is limited and where environmental conditions are harsh.
Even under extreme conditions in the field of factory automation, the O2I500 provides reliable readings. The sensor can read up to 4 barcodes in milliseconds, so that the workpieces are transported to the right machine at the right time, guaranteeing efficient and high-quality production. The O2I500 sets a new benchmark for automated over-production processes with its one-touch teach-in and configuration app, reliability, aesthetics and intuitive operation.
